K-pop group GOT7’s Park Jinyoung is in talks with BH Entertainment to potentially sign an exclusive acting contract, according to reports. The ‘When My Love Blooms’ star has also talked to a few other agencies but he is leaning towards BH Entertainment, according to a TV Daily report

The Korean report revealed that GOT7’s contract will be over in January, so other members are also looking forward to various opportunities. This has raised questions about whether Park Jinyoung will leave his group, GOT7.

Now JYP Entertainment has opened up about the rumors of Jinyoung signing with BH Entertainment. JYP Entertainment told Sports Chosun, “It is true that GOT7’s exclusive contract expires around next January. We are discussing various possibilities with the members regarding the direction they will take in the future.” In another media report, the agency was quoted saying, “We are still discussing with Jinyoung regarding the issue of his contract renewal from various angles.”

A source from BH Entertainment said, “I have not heard anything about an exclusive contract.” The source, however, did not deny the meeting. Another insider commented, “A former manager from JYP Entertainment contacted Jinyoung as well to try and scout him, but it seems there is a higher chance of Jinyoung heading to BH Entertainment”, Koreaboo reported.

GOT7 fans have taken to Twitter to show their unconditional support for the ‘Hold Me’ crooner’s future goals. A fan said, “ACTING. ACTING. ACTING. LET THE MAN PURSUE ACTING IF HE WANTS TO! Stop hating uselessly on JYP. Let's just hope they won't make it an exclusive contract so he could do both!! He's an amazing actor and he clearly loves it!!” Another user posted, “It’s his acting career lol got7 themselves says they’ll stay together as 7 members even if the contract expires they’ll continue together. They’ve discussed that since 2019, they’ve always said that they want to stay together well here’s one statement from mark and Jackson.”

A user noted, “Since JyP closed the acting division, this was meant to happen. Jinyoung is a rising star in the acting so this is the best option for him. Just everyone needs to know this isn’t the end for Got7, because 7 is forever. Same situation as Taecyeon, dif acting agency while still 2PM.” A fan noted, “TO THE NON FANS: This is a big break for our actor Park. Imagine tons of acting agencies, especially ones with huge names under them are scouting him. His career as an actor is different from his career as an idol and he is flourishing and expanding in both.”

Jinyoung had his acting debut with KBS’ ‘Dream High 2’. Later, he starred in supporting roles in ‘When a Man Falls in Love’ (2013), ‘This is My Love’ (2015) and ‘Legend of the Blue Sea’ (2016-2017). He got the lead in the K-drama series, ‘He Is Psychometric’ (2019), followed by the hit South Korean TV show, ‘When My Love Blooms’(2020). Jinyoung also snagged quite a few awards for his various acting roles, including the Actor Popularity Award and Potential award in the 5th Asia Artist Awards. He also nabbed the Favourite Korean Drama Male Character award in 2019 in StarHub Night of Stars for his performance in ‘He Is Psychometric’.
