Who does Cristiano Ronaldo play in ‘Fast X: Part 2’? Vin Diesel confirms Portugal star’s casting
'Fast & Furious' fans will be seeing a familiar face in the final instalment of the franchise. 'Fast X: Part 2' will see Portugal star Cristiano Ronaldo in the feature. The news was confirmed by Vin Diesel, who leads the film series as the titular character, Dominic 'Dom' Toretto, seemingly confirming the appearance of the soccer star.
In the caption, Toretto wrote, "Everyone asked, would he be in the Fast mythology… I gotta tell you,u he is a real one. We wrote a role for him…" At the time of writing, there is very little that's known about his role in the film, with the former Juventus star yet to confirm. In addition to Diesel, the 11th and supposedly final film in the action-packed racing franchise will feature returning stars Dwayne Johnson as Luke Hobbs, Jason Statham as Deckard Shaw, Jason Momoa as Dante Reyes, Jordana Brewster as Dom's sister, Mia Torretto, and Michelle Rodriguez as Letty Ortiz.
In June, Diesel confirmed at FuelFest that the character of Brian O’Connor, played originally by the late Paul Walker, would also return in the upcoming instalment. Christina Hodson and Oren Uziel pen the script for the film, with Louis Leterrier returning after he directed the 10th installment.
"First, is to bring the franchise back to L.A.! The second thing was to return to the car culture, to the street racing," he said. " The third thing was reuniting Dom and Brian O’Conner." In his interview with EW, director Leterrier promised Part 2 to be an emotional ride. "You're going to cry. Part 2 is going to be a sad one," he teased. "In my mind, they're modern saints. At the end, Dante says, 'There are two ways a person becomes a saint: Either they pull off a miracle, or they sacrifice themselves for the greater good.' So yes, you're going to cry. There are some tears in your future, let me tell you."
"I know where the franchise ends, and I know where the problems are in the 25 years of consequences that led up to that moment," he added. "But there are many ways to get there. Many roads will lead us to the end." He also added that a certain conclusion was not a guarantee.
"I mean, who knows? Two years ago, we didn't think that movies would ever exist anymore," he explains. "Knock on wood, count my lucky stars that we're making giant movies that are being seen by millions of people around the globe. It's amazing, and I'm so happy that we're part of this summer where it feels like the excitement for movies is back."
There is no release date slated, though Diesel said the film will be released in April 2027.
