Will the 'Avengers: Doomsday' trailer drop during Super Bowl LX?
In what comes as a major shocker, there will be no ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ trailer drop during Super Bowl LX. Adding to the dampener, there will be no new footage of ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ either. The double whammy also marks the first time that Marvel Studios will break their trend of dropping new trailers during the marquee sporting event.
The updates are based on a recent report from Deadline. “Word is Marvel Studios, which has Avengers: Doomsday (Dec 18) and Spider-Man: Brand New Day with Sony (July 31) is sitting out in what’s arguably a Super Bowl anomaly,” the report read. “In years past, they’ve had movies like Deadpool & Wolverine, Thunderbolts* and more.” While Marvel seems to be a major absentee this year, there are still major trailers fans can look forward to. Lionsgate’s ‘Michael’ and Dimension’s ‘Scream 7’ are slated to drop new spots along with Pixar’s ‘Hoppers’ and Lucasfilm’s ‘The Mandalorian and Grogu’.
That said, no Marvel footage comes as a major disappointment for fans. Earlier, speculations were rife that the franchise would release a new trailer after releasing four miniteasers over the last month. At the time of writing, there is no official logline for the upcoming film. The first teaser revealed Chris Evans' return to the MCU as Steve Rogers. The second focused on Thor (Chris Hemsworth). Patrick Stewart’s Professor X, Magneto (Ian McKellen), and Cyclops (James Marsden) were shown in the third, while the latest put the spotlight on the Wakandans and a member of the Fantastic Four.
'Avengers: Doomsday' stars Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom, alongside Anthony Mackie as Captain America, Sebastian Stan as the Winter Soldier, Letitia Wright as Shuri, Paul Rudd as Ant-Man, Wyatt Russell as U.S. Agent, Tenoch Huerta Mejía as Namor, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm, Pedro Pascal as Mister Fantastic, Joseph Quinn as the Human Torch, Ebon Moss-Bachrach as the Thing, and Simu Liu as Shang-Chi. Also returning are Florence Pugh as White Widow, Kelsey Grammer as the Beast, Lewis Pullman as Sentry, Danny Ramirez as Falcon, David Harbour as Red Guardian, Winston Duke as M'Baku, Hannah John-Kamen as Ghost, and Tom Hiddleston as Loki.
Like ‘Doomsday’, the plot for 'Brand New Day' has been under wraps as well, but what is likely is that the events of the film will take place before the new Avengers film. Tom Holland's appearance as the friendly neighborhood web-slinger will also be the final MCU film before 'Doomsday' and 'Secret Wars'. Also starring are Sadie Sink, Jon Bernthal's Punisher, and Mark Ruffalo's Hulk. Rounding up the cast are Zendaya as MJ, Jacob Batalon as Ned, and J.K. Simmons as J. Jonah Jameson.
‘Avengers: Doomsday’ releases December 18, 2026, in cinemas.
