Why was Playboi Carti arrested?
According to TMZ, the 26-year-old 'Magnolia' rapper was arrested in Georgia on December 20, 2022, for felony aggravated assault after allegedly choking his pregnant girlfriend during a dispute over a paternity test. According to an arrest affidavit obtained by the website, the woman, whose identity has not been released, told police that Carti "grabbed her by the throat and pushed, holding her neck until she could barely breathe." She added that she "thought she was going to die" when she spoke to police. The alleged victim claimed that when she tried to talk to the 'Miss the Rage' rapper about the baby, things got physical after they got into a discussion about a paternity test.
Carti's GF had 'visible injuries'
A witness intervened to stop the alleged altercation. The woman claimed Carti attacked her again after she ran away and got into her car. She informed police that when she tried to use the car's SOS feature to call 911, the emcee allegedly tried to pull her out and put his palm over her mouth. The woman reportedly had "visible injuries to her neck, chest and back" when police arrived.
'Carti's lawyer says he is falsely accused'
The woman, who was 14 weeks pregnant when the claimed event allegedly occurred, admitted to seeing Carti for two years and moving in with him in the summer. Carti’s attorney, Brian Steel, said to TMZ: "Mr Carter was falsely accused. Pursuant to my communications with the Fulton County District Attorney‘s office, this case will be dismissed without any prosecution or litigation," as per Page Six.
