How Iggy shaped her music career
The rapper started her career at the age of 16, after releasing the music videos for her songs "Pussy" and "Two Times" on YouTube, both of which gained widespread popularity. Her debut studio album, 'The New Classic' (2014), peaked among the top five on several charts worldwide, topping the Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums, making Iggy the first non-American female rapper to reach the top of the chart.
Due to a series of conflicts with her label, as well as personal conflicts, her second album project was cancelled. She later became an independent artist, creating her own label, Bad Dreams. She released her second album, 'In My Defense,' in 2019, followed by another EP, 'Wicked Lips' and a third studio album, 'The End of an Era,' in 2021.
Iggy is a recipient of two American Music Awards, three Billboard Music Awards, an MTV Video Music Award, a People's Choice Award, four Teen Choice Awards and four Grammy Award nominations. Her official YouTube channel has accumulated 3.4 billion views, with 15 music videos receiving over 100 million views on Vevo.
In 2011, Iggy was in a relationship with American rapper A$AP Rocky, whom she met through record producer Chase N. Cashe, but parted ways in 2012. In November 2013, Iggy started dating Los Angeles Lakers basketball player Nick Young, announcing their engagement on 1 June 2015. The pair seperated on 19 June 2016, after a video leaked on the internet showing Young bragging about cheating on Iggy.
The rapper then briefly dated Moroccan-American rapper French Montana in 2016 and in 2018, she revealed her relationship with American rapper Playboi Carti. Though the couple split in 2019, Iggy later gave birth to their son in June 2020. Currently, Iggy Azalea is rumoured to be dating Tory Lanez.
