HERLONG, CALIFORNIA: Rapper B.G. is to be a free man soon as he might be released early from his 14-year prison sentence being served at FCI Herlong Detention Center. According to multiple reports, Birdman, who runs Cash Money Records, announced during an Instagram live that the rapper will be home in a “few weeks,” ahead of his scheduled release date on April 7, 2024.

B.G., whose legal name is Christopher Dorsey, made a compassionate release request earlier this year but was denied for the third time. He entered his first motion in May 2020, reports Yahoo! The rapper petitioned for an early release in a handwritten letter to the court. In the letter, he cited his harsh upbringing and rap career and accepted “full responsibility” for his crimes but felt “enough was enough” regarding his punishment. However, District Judge Susie Morgan rejected the motion after three days of deliberating. In her 11-page statement, she said, “He has not presented compelling and extraordinary reasons for his compassionate release and should therefore stay in federal prison until the end of his sentence in 2024.”

As per Yahoo! report, the second request came in July 2022, when Birdman appealed to the judge, backed with a petition signed by several public figures, and said, "He is not only a generational artist but he’s got a platform and the chance to share his experience to better today’s young men who need to hear what he’s got to say. When he is released, I know he will give back and use what he’s gone through to help as many people as possible.” But the judge denied the request. Then in September, the third compassionate release motion was entered, titled 'The Court Misconstrued Defendant’s Motion' that cited the 2021 letter B.G. gave to the court asking for a deduction in years of his sentence and mentioned the situation at the prison while claiming that he was at risk of contracting Covid-19.

Now, multiple reports have suggested that the 42-year-old rapper might be released soon. However, this is also not the first time Birdman has mentioned about the early release. Back in December 2021, as per Distractify, he shared a message, "Be home in a minute," directing at B.G. Also, a video led to a lot of confusion among the netizens, that was uploaded with caption "B.G. Free" and stating "After 17 years, Ain't no more Free G. GOD is GOOD!" One fan commented, "Wasnt havent the best day but they free’d one of my favorite artist." But soon, many pointed out that it's not the rapper and asked to stop misinformation. One said, "You gotta delete this man spreading false info."
