Why did Sunday aka Jin Bo-ra leave SM Entertainment after 16 years? Fans congratulate her, ask when's EXO leaving?

Sunday aka Jin Bo-ra, formerly a member of K-pop girl group ‘The Grace’ has left SM Entertainment after 16 years of being with the agency. According to exclusive coverage of Star News, the singer’s contract with the agency ended in 2020 after which she chose to go on her separate ways and has been updating fans through her social media handles.

Who is Sunday?

Sunday, full name Jin Bo-ra, is known for her strong vocals.She debuted as a soloist in Japan in 2004 before joining SM Entertainment’s group ‘The Grace’ in 2005. The singer was a part of the K-pop girl group consisting of four members, Lina, Dana, Stephanie and her. The K-pop group was active till 2010 and went on a hiatus till 2011. The Grace resumed activities with Sunday and Dana introducing the sub-unit ‘Dana & Sunday’ before going on a break again.

Along with her music career, the K-pop singer also appeared in TV shows including SBS’ ‘Oh My God x2’ and a number of musicals. Along with having her own music career, Sunday also reportedly trained many SM Entertainment K-pop stars with vocal lessons. 

Why did she leave SM Entertainment?

Though the reason for her leaving isn’t official, fans opine that SM did the girl group ‘The Grace’ dirty.  Fans have been posting their thoughts regarding Sunday leaving on social media. While some say that she is finally free, others believe that SM wasted another singer’s talent.

Among the other K-pop stars SME handles are Yunho (TVXQ) originally 5 members, 3 members filed a lawsuit against SM Entertainment in July of 2009., Eunhyuk and Donghae (Super Junior), Hyoyeon (Girls' Generation), Irene and Seulgi (Red Velvet), Lay and Kai (EXO), Minho and Taemin (SHINee), Taeyong, Yuta, Ten, Jaehyun, Mark, and Haechan (NCT).

On her departure, a fan said, “Sad how blatantly neglected the grace is in sm, sunday was on of sm’s vocal trainers too. f*ck sm entertainment fr they never do their girls justice!” Another said, “SM wasted her talents. I will never not be bitter about CJSH. If you don’t know what that acronym is....add that to my list of bitterness with SM.” An EXO fan posted, “Congrats for the freedom. Exo when??” Another asked, “How many women left in SM?” A fan shared, “Our girl Sunday deserves better. CONGRATS QUEEN! Istg CSJH has so much talent but SM just locked em up. My unnies~”
