Why did Robert Herjavec take back his $250,000 offer from Ghia? 'Shark Tank' fans dub it 'd*** move'

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Melanie Masarin, founder of Ghia, a non-alcoholic aperitif brand, stepped into the tank seeking a whopping $250,000 for a 5% stake in her company that has a valuation of $5 Million. After delivering a very compelling pitch about the viability of non-alcoholic drinks as the future of the beverage sector, Melanie proceeded to offer the drinks to the Sharks for tasting.

One sip of the delicious beverage, and Robert Herjavec, Kevin O'Leary, and Daymond John were sold. But before making an offer the Sharks asked her their usual question about the sales and profit margins. When Melanie revealed that she owned 57% of her company, and has already raised quite a bit of capital from other sources, including an upcoming $6 Million investment for a valuation of $35 Million. The Sharks were put off by the high valuation and began backing out one by one. Except for Robert Herjavec. He saw potential in the business and since she was offering 5% from her own portion of 57%, Robert decided not to negotiate and agreed to invest $250K for 5%. But before Melanie could accept, Kevin jumped in.

Kevin's interjection offended Robert. The Shark felt that Melanie should simply take his offer since he was giving her exactly what she wanted instead of listening to Kevin's offer. But Melanie felt that it was only fair for her to listen to all the offers on the table before making her final decision. This prompted Robert to openly threaten to withdraw the offer she decided to hear out Kevin. Melanie stood her ground and declared that she would give Kevin a fair chance.

Robert kept his word and took back his offer, leaving Melanie with only Kevin's offer. Before making his offer, Kevin declared that the situation with Robert wasn't going to make him change his mind, and then proceeded to make his usual "sharky" offer by asking for a 10% equity for his $250K investment.

Melanie realized that if she accepted Kevin's offer, she would own less than 50% of her own company. So, she politely declined his offer and left the tank with no deal. After watching Melanie lose out on Robert's offer on account of her decision to hear everybody's offers, 'Shark Tank' fans took to Twitter to call out Robert.

A fan tweeted, "Sharks that try to bully entrepreneurs into accepting their offer without hearing everyone are insecure bullies with fragile egos. #SharkTank." "@ABCNetwork #sharktank Shark Tank sucks when sharks don't let each shark state their offer. Childish. Stupid. Total turnoff," wrote a fan. "Dude. Total d*** move to go out just because she wants to hear from someone else. #SharkTank," pointed out a fan.

In her green room interview at the time of her exit, Melanie hoped for Robert to regret passing up on Ghia deal and declared she had no regrets about hearing Kevin's offer, as she felt it was fair to hear everybody's offers before making her decision.
