Is Niall Horan OK? 'Voice' coach sparks concern after he's forced to sit out of season 28 finale
After his back-to-back wins in Seasons 23 and 24, Niall Horan is solidifying his status as one of the strongest contenders to win 'The Voice' Season 28. From his team, DEK of Hearts winning the mic-drop award to consistent stellar mentorship, the 'One Direction' alum has one of the best chances at victory. While fans were excited to witness Horan's singing magic in the finale, the star unfortunately didn't perform, and the reason was completely understandable.
Horan revealed that he will no longer perform in 'The Voice' Season 28 finale as planned, explaining that he won't take the stage with his two finalists after experiencing a "rough couple of weeks," as per The Sun. Host Carson Daly said Niall was "really under the weather," and although he was feeling "a little bit better," doctors had ordered vocal rest.
As a result, his other finalist, Aiden Ross, performed alongside coach Reba McEntire instead. McEntire praised Horan for prioritizing his health, saying, "I'm very proud of you, Niall, for making sure you take care of yourself because we want you around with your beautiful voice for many years to come."
The final night of 'The Voice' Season 28 featured performances from the four coach-selected artists, Aubrey Nicole (Team Reba), Jazz McKenzie (Team Bublé), Ralph Edwards (Team Snoop), and Ross (Team Horan), alongside two wildcard picks voted in by America, DEK of Hearts (Team Niall) and Max Chambers (Team Bublé), according to Parade.
Each artist then performed twice with one contemporary song and one classic before voting lines opened for viewers. The winner of 'The Voice' Season 28 will be announced on Tuesday, December 16, as per Talent Recap. For the season 28 finale, celebrity guest performers include Journey founder Neal Schon and band members. 'The Voice' Season 26 winner Sofronio Vasquez, K-pop group XG performing 'Gala,' as well as Zac Brown, Noah Cyrus, Riley Green, and Khalid, would also be performing in the grand finale.
The two-part finale will run two hours each, starting at 9 pm ET on NBC, preceded by an hour-long pre-show hosted by Ariana Madix and Dylan Efron recapping the previous night's performances. Talking about 'The Voice' Season 28 champion, the winner will receive a Universal Music Group record deal and a $100,000 cash prize, as per People.
