LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Earlier this month, Beau DeMayo was buzzing with excitement at Marvel Studios. He was all hands on deck, getting ready for the big premiere of 'X-Men '97', a tribute to the iconic ‘90s Fox show 'X-Men: The Animated Series'

However, in a surprising turn of events, DeMayo, the creator of 'X-Men ’97' was fired by Marvel Studios just days before the show's debut on March 20, as per The Hollywood Reporter.

As expected, fans have been caught off guard speculating about the reasons behind DeMayo's departure and how it might shake things up for their beloved mutant heroes on screen.

DeMayo's departure comes at a peculiar time, as 'X-Men ’97' is scheduled to hit Disney+ screens in roughly a week. Neither DeMayo nor Marvel Studios have disclosed the reason behind this abrupt firing.

Adding to the mystery, DeMayo seems to have vanished from social media. His Instagram account, where he used to share updates about his Marvel projects, is now nowhere to be found.

Similarly, his previously active OnlyFans account, which was non-explicit and free, is now inactive.

This unexpected turn of events has left fans all the more puzzled about his sudden exit from the project.

'X-Men '97' fans speculate over Beau DeMayo's firing, say 'it sounds bad'

After the update, fans flocked to X to speculate the reason behind Marvel Studios' move to abruptly part ways with DeMayo.

One fan wrote, "I wonder what happened. It sounds bad. Wonder if he did or said something?" Commenting on the sparsity of the news, one user said, "Come on, there should've a reason for the firing at this time?"

Some fans wondered if DeMayo was fired for allegedly trying to incorporate "woke" content into the series, as one wrote, "Go woke go broke... Take your political agenda out of it!"

On the other hand, trying to debunk the woke myth, one fan commented, "Pri saying he’s been fired for trying to do woke content and stuff when x men has literally been “woke” for years. Bffr." While another said, "Clearly you have no idea what the X-Men are. They've been Woke since day one in 1963. They have ALWAYS been political. Sit down."

One user wrote, "Genuinely heartbroken for the rest of the X-Men 97 team because now the shadow will Cloud the show for the rest of its run but just because one man probably did something very wrong to get himself fired like this shouldn't ruin all the talented work everyone else put into it."

Given the lack of reasoning behind DeMayo's firing, only time will tell how this will affect the future of the show. Stay tuned to MEAWW to get more updates!

'X-Men ’97' is all set to premiere on Wednesday, March 20, exclusively on Disney+
