LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Music's greatest night returned to Los Angeles on Sunday at Crypto.com Arena, with Trevor Noah hosting for the third time. The former talk show host was overjoyed to return to one of his favorite hosting gigs, but viewers were not.

The evening began with performances by Bad Bunny and Brandi Carlile this year. Other performers included Harry Styles, Mary J. Blige, Luke Combs, Lizzo, and more. The Recording Academy also revealed that the show will include tributes to three "lost icons": Loretta Lynn, one of country music's crown jewels who died in October; Christine McVie, the well-known Fleetwood Mac singer-songwriter who died in November; and Takeoff, a Migos rapper who was shot and killed in November. Throughout it all, show host Trevor received special attention from the viewers.

Trevor Noah kicks off the night with a monologue

For the third year in a row, Grammys presenter Trevor Noah officially kicked off music's biggest night with another humorous opening speech — following an explosive performance from Bad Bunny. The former 'Daily Show' anchor returned to host the 65th Grammy Awards on Sunday at Los Angeles' Crypto.com Arena.

"I’m lucky enough to be back as your host tonight," Trevor remarked at the start of his monologue.

"My job is to be your eyes, your ears. I’ll be floating around this room. ... This is the room where it all goes down — just look around. ... Every song on TikTok that you hear? There are people who made them. This is them!"

Trevor also introduced Adele to "the person that Adele has always wanted to meet but never has" — Dwayne Johnson. The pair of superstars enjoyed a tender hug in the center of the crowd after Trevor shocked the "Easy on Me" singer with a visit from The Rock.

"You’ve never met him, right?" Trevor inquired of Adele. "I found out that he’s a huge fan of yours too. And no, I don’t have Dwayne Johnson here tonight, but I do have someone called The Rock? Adele, meet The Rock. The Rock, meet Adele! First time ever. All right, you two get acquainted."

"Beyoncé is nominated for her album, 'Renaissance,'" Trevor explained. "Which, by the way, was better than anything from the actual Renaissance in my opinion. The Renaissance was just pictures of grapes and stuff. Beyoncé took it up another level."

"In fact, I was so inspired by the lyrics of ‘Break My Soul’ that I actually quit my job. That’s how powerful that was. I just wish Beyoncé had also written a song about the importance of having savings before you quit your job."

"Harry Styles is here tonight, everybody," Trevor continued. "I mean, what can you say about this man that hasn’t been said? ... Women throw their panties at this man ... he puts them on, and he looks better in them than they do."

Trevor Noah slammed for his antics

Viewers who didn't seem much excited about his hosting gig took to social media. One such viewer wrote, "This is the second year Trevor has put Beyonce on the spot. I knows she's sick of him lol." Another person expressed how badly they want Trevor to let go of his Grammy duties, "the grammys need to fire trevor noah i beg." Further slamming the host, a Twitter user wrote, "Someone please take the mic away from Trevor Noah. Love you mean it but also please shut up, it’s past time for this to be DONE." Harry stans were totally not having it as one of them wrote, "COULD TREVOR NOAH JUST SHUT UP JESUS CHRIST ENOUGH ALREADY LET HARRY TALK OR LEAVE HIM ALONE."

While calling Trevor 'corny' a viewer wrote, "I'm sorry but Trevor Noah as host is a no for me. He has been corny all night." Sick of his old jokes, a viewer tweeted, "Trevor Noah opening up with Trump jokes 2 years after he’s out of office. Award shows are dead. Can we just get Ricky Gervais to host everything?" Speaking of how his jokes are not landing well, another person added, "CAN TREVOR NOAH SHUT UP PLEASE THEYRE NOT LANDING BABES KEEP IT MOVING." Highlighting one of the awkward moments of the night, a fan quoted, "Ben Affleck and JLo look so awkward and unamused at Trevor Noah's ridiculous fake call from his "mom" to mock Christians' view of the satanic performance right before. Right there with ya, Ben."
