NEW JERSEY, US: Melissa Gorga branded Teresa Giudice as "fake" after text exchanges between the two were leaked. Fans, on the other hand, are skeptical of Melissa's claims, with many doubting the timeframe.

Melissa and Teresa engaged in a screenshot battle. The conflict between the two stars took a turn on Tuesday's 'The Real Housewives of New Jersey' Season 13 premiere when Melissa accused Teresa of ignoring her texts following the Season 12 reunion. Melissa had posted a cropped text message on the show that stated, "Teresa, I texted you driving home from the reunion and you never answered back until now." However, messages between the two have been leaked to AllAboutTRH.com, which posted them on Instagram, exposing the uncropped text message as well as other chats they had between March 31 and mid-May last year, before the start of Season 13 filming.

Why is Melissa branding Teresa 'fake'?

Melissa labeled Teresa, her sister-in-law, as "fake" after text exchanges between the two were exposed. "Guys! I see you’re all curious about the text messages! Someone is definitely spiraling And needs to 'prove' herself working overtime," Melissa remarked on Thursday, February 9, on her Instagram Story. During the Season 13 debut of 'RHONJ', Melissa said she texted Teresa to let her know she wouldn't be in her bridal party, but Teresa didn't answer for three weeks, which contributed to their feud.

"BUT THIS ALL PROVES MY POINT EVEN MORE!!!" Melissa continued. "She did not reply to the text messages I sent after we filmed the reunion!! CRICKETS!!! It wasn’t until three weeks later, and after the reunion AIRED – she was getting all the backlash about how poorly she treated her brother and I – that THEN she felt the need to reach out and clean it up."

According to the alleged messages received by AllAboutTRH, Teresa eventually responded to Melissa on April 17 with a photo of two men with Easter eggs painted on their buttocks. Teresa addressed the Season 12 reunion the night of May 3 — the same night part one aired — after the sister-in-laws had unrelated chats.

"Her reaching out right at the same time we were about to start filming and finally wanting to discuss our relationship and how she can fix it was FAKE!" Melissa asserted. "That was inauthentic and was self-serving. We wanted off the roller coaster. Point blank. Can’t say much more now, but if you continue to watch this season, it will make much more sense."

Teresa revealed in the leaked text conversations that after viewing the reunion, she felt their families had "gone backward" and wanted to go out to lunch. Melissa answered the next morning with a long letter in which she chastised her co-star for being "calculated" in attempting to "fix the family again for the one-hundredth time" after fans pushed her to do so.

"I feel like this text is about you and not really about us," Melissa responded the next morning, May 4. "Especially when we’re just about to go into filming again in two weeks. After all these years I’ve finally found a way to accept the way our relationship is." Melissa declined Teresa's lunch invitation, explaining that the latter "drew the line in the sand" by eliminating her from her bridal party and publicly sharing it before notifying her directly. "You’ve said multiple times on interviews that we will never be friends. I agree with you. We will always be family and I will always wish you nothing but the best. See you soon.🙂," Melissa concluded.

Two days later, Teresa responded by thanking Melissa for her "heartfelt and genuine" sentiments and apologizing "from the bottom of my heart." She requested another conversation, but Melissa stated unequivocally that she is "fine" with their relationship being dormant.

Teresa invited Melissa's family over for her birthday, and the latter informed her that they would be unable to attend. Teresa thanked her family for sending flowers to her 50th birthday party on May 18. Despite the fact that the chat ended in a reasonably nice tone, the two families have subsequently ceased communicating.

'Mel’s timeline doesn’t make sense'

'RHONJ' fans took to the Instagram post to share their opinion with most finding it hard to believe Melissa's claims, "Mel’s timeline doesn’t make sense. The texts show Tre texted Melissa happy Easter, 2 weeks after the reunion (and after that long text from Melissa at almost midnight) which was before the reunion aired. And tre called & texted her about joeys bday gift and a nespresso event which was also before the reunion aired 😐 so now what Melissa." Another added, "She said months, now it’s three weeks .. cmon girl." Accusing her of spinning a narrative, a person wrote, "Melissa can sure spin a narrative! No wonder she’s been able to convince people for years that she’s always a victim. So glad Teresa is finally speaking up!" Another bombarded her with questions like, "Her ⏰ up. Question for Team Melissa?? Does she make you laugh? Is she funny? Give me Melissa’s top 3 moments. What’s her most popular phrase?"

Confused by Melissa's claims, one fan wrote, "I’m confused on how she wanted Teresa to respond to the first message? She said it was “all good” so what more needed to be said at that point? I’m not a Teresa Stan by any means, but I wouldn’t have written back either because it didn’t seem necessary and then I’d continue to text normally again." Fans also feel the Gorgas are banking on Teresa for the storyline on the show, "One minute her and Joe are saying they don’t care, let it be and they just keep harping on it. Melissa and Joe = no storyline without Tre. Plain and simple. You can like Tre or not but it’s obvious she can be on the show without them, not the other way around."

Teresa claims Joe and Melissa are using her for 'RHONJ' storyline

Teresa is striking out at the Gorgas in a recent episode of her podcast. Teresa's podcast, 'Namaste B$tches', aired a new episode on Wednesday, February 8, and the reality star did not hold back. Teresa spoke up about the next season of 'RHONJ', saying she's tired of being the plot for her brother, Joe, and sister-in-law, Melissa. The reality actress alleges that the show's sole plots constantly include Teresa, and she's had enough. "My brother is the one who talked about Louie on the show in the first place, I didn’t even want to talk about Louie," she explained.

Teresa stated that Joe's intention in informing everyone she was dating Louie Ruelas at the time was to construct a storyline for himself. "I didn’t want my brother to say that I was seeing someone. It’s my story to tell, not his," she insisted.

"My brother is the one that brought him out on the show..it’s my life, not yours. I know you don’t have a storyline, and I’ve been your storyline for the past ten years," Teresa continued. The 50-year-old said that she had had enough of the "gravy train." She acknowledged that she was sick of Joe exploiting her for his selfish plots and that she would not allow it to happen again.

Teresa also spoke out about the texts, claiming that she and Melissa are "not the same" and would never be.
