IRMO, SOUTH CAROLINA: A 26-year-old mother, Alexandria Cress Borys, was shot and killed by a woman, identified as 23-year-old Christina Harrison, outside a Kroger grocery store in South Carolina on Valentine’s Day after an argument. Police say Harrison fled away from the scene but later turned herself in to the police. The suspect got booked into the Lexington County Detention Center and faces charges of murder, unlawful carrying of a pistol, and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.

The deceased’s husband, Tyler Borys, confirmed that his wife was shot to death on February 14 in front of their two-year-old child and another baby, who were both in the car at the time, reports People. While Irmo Police Chief Bobby Dale released a statement saying, as quoted by ABC 25 Columbia, “Irmo Officers responded to a shooting incident in the Kroger Shopping Center at 4 pm and located the victim in the parking lot. A short time later, the victim was pronounced dead."

What happened on February 14?

Sharing the details, Irmo Police Chief said, "From the information gathered at the scene, it appears that the suspect and the victim did not know each other, however, they were involved in a verbal altercation just prior to the shooting." He further said, "This is a situation where tempers flared, and someone let anger get the best of them. One rash decision has impacted the lives of two families and countless others who witnessed this tragic event." "The suspect fled the scene in a white Ford. While Investigators were still on scene, the suspect called dispatch and said that she was at the Police Department to turn herself in," he added.

Alexandria's death came just a week after she lost her brother. Talking about the tragedy, one of the town residents, Tabitha Foster, said, "It makes me a little bit more aware because it’s a trying time for any and everybody." While one more, Shawne Edwards, said, "That shopping center is our go-to shopping center so this whole dynamic is a ripple effect in this entire community," states ABC 7.

Who was Alexandria Cress Borys?

Tyler remembers Alexandria as the "best wife you could ever ask for" and said, "she built a really strong support system.” One of Alexandria’s former coworkers, nicknamed Sunni, told WIS TV, “It’s just really sad that you took away a mom, a sister, a daughter, a wife for something so senseless.” Alexandria and Sunni worked together in a Columbia doctor’s office for many years. Alexandria was a cosmetologist who was considering a degree in nursing.

Tyler has launched a GoFundMe where he wrote, "We are not looking for personal donations or financial help. But there has been enough people asking so I’d like to use any funds collected to build a memorial for Alexandria to honor a great soul. Wether it be something small, a park installment, or wherever we can do. Anything additional will go towards a future fund to benefit our son.
