DETROIT, MICHIGAN: Eminem has filed an objection to Robyn Dixon and Gizelle Bryant's 'Reasonably Shady' trademark. Is it, however, comparable enough for the 'Rap God' to intervene?

Since breaking onto the scene in the late 1990s, rapper Eminem aka Slim Shady has continually made headlines. This has frequently been linked to beefs and freshly released diss recordings. But, it appears that the rapper has a new feud, this time with two 'Real Housewives' and whether their 'Relatively Shady' podcast infringes on the 'Slim Shady' trademark.

Why is Eminem suing 'Reasonably Shady' podcast?

Eminem has filed a trademark infringement lawsuit against two 'The Real Housewives of Potomac' actresses for their 'Relatively Shady' podcast trademark. Before continuing, rumors claim they registered a trademark for 'Relatively Shady', although their podcast is titled 'Reasonably Shady'. Having said that, the Detroit rapper already has a comparable trademark in "Slim Shady" and has filed a suit to enjoin the Housewives from using it. Also, Gizelle Bryant and Robyn Dixon host the 'Reasonably Shady' relationship advice podcast, which they registered as a trademark in February 2022.

Additionally, trademark infringement claims are frequently based on the risk that a consumer may mistake two brands. Marshall Mathers claims in his objection request that the moniker 'Reasonably Shady' will confuse consumers.

Do the Housewives violate the 'Slim Shady' trademark?

Gizelle Bryant and Robyn Dixon submitted a trademark application for the phrase 'Relatively Shady' in February 2022. While the application sought federal protection for a wide range of items, including paddle boards, water bottles, clothes, candles, and makeup, most people are familiar with the word as the title of Gizelle and Robyn's relationship counseling podcast.

They requested registration of the phrase 'Relatively Shady' months before their debut podcast episode, but Eminem filed a trademark objection against the two reality stars only in February 2023.

The resistance is evidently motivated by the similarities between "Relatively Shady" and "Slim Shady," two trademarks that Eminem, the actual name Marshall Mathers III, has registered. But do these parallels go far enough to justify opposition? The answer can get a little hazy.

The women recently celebrated the show's 5 million downloads in less than two years. The Housewives have not replied publicly to Eminem's criticism. But, the ladies must answer the 'Stan' rapper's request before March 26.
