How 50 Cent got a drug and booze-addled Eminem out of a tight spot as rapper spiralled
HOUSTON, TEXAS: If there’s one person whom we all know had Eminem’s back for years now, it’s fellow rapper 50 Cent. Slim Shady recently opened up about his past drug addiction and made no attempt to hide it at all.
Things changed when he fumbled his way through an interview and 50 Cent came through, just like a good friend should. However, his addiction did not start until he became world famous.

Eminem admitted that he started using when he got worldwide fame. According to Showbiz Cheatsheet, Eminem once said, “I was able to downplay my addiction and hide it for a while until it got really bad. And also, at that time, so much s**t was happening with the whole 50 [Cent] beef with Ja Rule,” he said, adding, “We started feuding, going back-and-forth, and I’m making all of these diss records and s**t. So, I’m coming off The Marshall Mathers LP and going into Encore when my addiction started to get bad. I was taking Vicodin, Valium and alcohol. I kinda fell off the map a little bit and didn’t explain why I went away.”
Later on, his addiction got worse after the loss of a friend, who was best man at his wedding. “Then the thing happened with Proof, and my addiction went through the f****n’ roof. I remember just after Proof died, I was in my house by myself, and I was just laying in bed and I couldn’t move and I just kept staring at the ceiling fan. And I just kept taking more pills,” Eminem said.
However, then he spoke about how 50 Cent helped him through all the travails that come with substance abuse. “I remember things started getting really, really bad when me, 50, and G-Unit did BET’s 106 & Park. We performed ‘You Don’t Know’ on the show, and then we did an interview afterward. That’s when the wheels started coming off,” he wrote. “One of the hosts was talking to me, and I could not understand a word she was saying. 50 had to cover for me and answer every question.”

It is now public that Eminem has been sober since 2008, with Eminem himself making the announcement on Twitter more than a decade after. He’s since been focused on his personal life and career, all thanks to the support of his friends and family and most importantly, 50 Cent.
