Who is Julia Sienna Santiago? Jersey Shore cop arrests ‘American Idol’ judge in chaotic episode
With each new episode, 'American Idol' Season 24 keeps raising the entertainment quotient with stellar vocal talent and endearing reactions from the judges. However, no one could have predicted the shocking twist when Luke Bryan was hilariously arrested on the show. In a surprising turn of events, a police officer took Bryan into custody for "giving too many Nos," making for an unexpected Idol moment. The cop in question is contestant Julia Sienna Santiago, who was a special officer with the Sea Girt Police Department for the past two years.
Santiago first appeared in a police uniform, handcuffing Bryan at the end of the Monday, February 9 episode. It served as a teaser for the Monday, February 16 episode, in which Santiago auditioned for a Golden Ticket to Hollywood Week. "Am I in trouble?" Bryan asked during the staged arrest. Fellow judge Carrie Underwood cheered on Bryan's playful brush with the law. After the playful segment, Santiago performed 'I Would' by Connie Talbot.
Her performance quickly won Bryan over, who said, "I loved it! Really, really great." Underwood also praised her, saying, "I love you. I feel like you are such a fantastic representation of every woman. You come in, you're strong, you're gorgeous, you have a strength in your voice, and you have these beautiful notes at the top that are very soft and pretty. It's all the things all wrapped into one." Lionel Richie also praised Santiago, saying, "I love your voice. You got some substance in there. You've got natural abilities." With that, all three judges said yes, sending her to Hollywood Week.
Notably, Santiago earned the audition opportunity by winning a Golden Ticket Pass from 'Downtown Freehold Idol' to 'American Idol,' advancing her to an American Idol producer, as per Daily Voice. She has also performed locally across Monmouth County, including singing at the Downtown Freehold Gazebo and performing the National Anthem at the Freehold Borough Arts Council’s St Patrick’s Day Parade. With audition rounds being over, 'American Idol' Season 24 now moves to the Ohana Round, which introduces a brand-new stage of the competition set in Hawaii. The round is designed to narrow the competition from the Top 30 contestants to the Top 20 before America's Vote begins.
Filmed at Aulani, A Disney Resort & Spa in Ko Olina, the round acts as an ultimate focus group, giving contestants the chance to perform in front of influential industry tastemakers with a combined social media reach of nearly 149 million followers, as per ScreenRant. These tastemakers include social media duo Kaniyia Brown and Terry McCaskill, dancer and choreographer Sasha Farber, artist and music creator Anthony Gargiula, singer and actress Loren Gray, Rolling Stone co-editor-in-chief Shirley Halperin, renowned vocal coach Cheryl Porter, and country music personality and Grand Ole Opry announcer Kelly Sutton.
