Who is Jerrod Carmichael dating? Golden Globe Awards 2023 host came out as gay on HBO special
BEVERLY HILLS, CALIFORNIA: The Golden Globes will return with its 80th edition on Tuesday, January 10, after its absence in 2022. The award organizer, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, was boycotted last year due to the lack of diversity among nominees but now is all set to make a grand entry with a slew of new award categories and nominees. The award ceremony will take place at the Beverly Hilton Hotel and will be broadcast on NBC and Peacock at 5 pm PT and 8 pm ET, as previously reported by MEAWW. And Emmy-winning comedian Jerrod Carmichael will be the host for the evening.
Carmichael, who has starred in three stand-up comedy specials on HBO - 'Love at the Store' in 2014, 'Jerrod Carmichael: 8' in 2017, and 'Rothaniel' in 2022, will follow in the footsteps of Jimmy Fallon, Tina Fey, Ricky Gervais, as he steps in to host the 2023 Golden Globe awards. During his HBO special 'Rothaniel' in April 2022, he came out as gay. He told the audience that he had "a secret," adding, "One that I kept from my father, my mother, my family, my friends — and you, all of you. Professionally, personally. And the secret is that I’m gay," reports Los Angeles Times.

He said, "I'm accepting the love, I really appreciate the love. My ego wants to rebel against it. I rebelled against it my whole life. I never thought I'd come out. I didn't think I'd ever, ever, ever come out. Probably at many points, I thought I'd rather die than confront the truth of that, to actually say it to people. Because I know it changes people's — some people — it changes their perception of me. I can't control that."
