Who is Cyndi Lauper's husband? '80s icon among 2023 nominees for Rock and Roll Hall of Fame
CLEVELAND, OHIO: The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Foundation published its list of nominees for the year 2023 on Wednesday, February 2, acknowledging some of the most iconic names in music, which included Cyndi Lauper. Speaking of the nomination, Lauper said, "It’s such an honor and thrill to be recognized by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a nominee. Seeing my name on this year’s ballot with so many talents that I admire means so much to me."
The list of nominees also includes Kate Bush, Sheryl Crow, Missy Elliott, Iron Maiden, Joy Division/New Order, George Michael, Willie Nelson, Rage Against the Machine, Soundgarden, The Spinners, A Tribe Called Quest, The White Stripes and Warren Zevon. Releasing the list, Chairman John Sykes, said, “This remarkable list of Nominees reflects the diverse artists and music that the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame honors and celebrates. These artists have created their own sounds that have impacted generations and influenced countless others that have followed in their footsteps.”

Lauper, a Grammy, Tony, and Emmy winner, told Billboard, "It has been a lifetime privilege to reach so many different kinds of fans with a message of following your own path (and having fun along the way, too).”
Cyndi Lauper's career
A first-time nominee, Lauper made the list after the release of her popular 1983 debut solo album 'She’s So Unusual' which included hits like 'Time After Time', 'She Bop' and 'Girls Just Want to Have Fun'. She continued to give several hits, including 'True Colors', 'The Goonies ‘R’ Good Enough', 'I Drove All Night' and others. Lauper has also appeared in films and on TV while becoming an advocate for LGBTQI+ issues. She also starred in 1991's 'Off and Running' with her husband David Thornton, who played a psychotic killer.
Who is David Thornton?
Since 1991, Lauper has been married to Thornton, an actor who has starred in multiple movies and television series, including ‘The Last Days of Disco’, ‘A Civil Action’, and ‘Homeland’. The two met in 1991 on the set of 'Off and Running,' reports Distractify. She told The Independent in 1992, “When we started rehearsing, David was real shy with me. I began to send him teasing notes — it's what I do when I kinda like someone.” She further said, “At nights, we used to walk on the beach after dinner. The moon was always out on the water, and one night I said: 'I wish I was a kite flying over the waves' and he said: 'Why not be a wave?' I thought 'Oh my God, this man is a poet."
Talking more about him, she told Closer Weekly in 2018, "All I can say is that he is my best friend, he’s wildly creative and I just wanted to share my whole life with him.”

Fans around the world will participate in the induction selection process through the Fan Vote, which will take place till April 28, 2023. The fans can vote online every day at vote.rockhall.com or in person at the museum in Cleveland, states the release. The top five artists selected by the fans and inductees will be announced in May.
