The courageous rapper was shot and left in critical condition fighting for his life in Miami hospital. The shooting took place at Sparez Bowling Alley

It's been a sad couple of weeks for hip hop fans as the industry continues to be hit by tragedies. Hollywood Unlocked revealed that rapper Baby Blue from the R&B and hip hop group Pretty Ricky was attacked by two armed robbers at the Sparez Bowling Alley in South Florida on April 19.

The outlet received the news via a direct message on Instagram from Baby Blue's official handle that is followed by a lot of hip hop biggies including Cardi B. "Attempted robbery fails after Vh1's 'Love & Hip hop' Miami Reality TV Star Baby Blue Whoaaa of Pretty Ricky shuts down 2 armed men!," read the post.

What happened to Baby Blue?

"Courageous rapper was shot and left in critical condition fighting for his life in Miami hospital. Shooting took place at Sparez Bowling Alley for Baby Blue Whoaaa's song release party for new song titled 'Jerry Rice'," the message read.

A Davie Police Department report provided to the Miami Herald confirmed that there was a shooting at the bowling alley in the wee hours of Monday, April 19. According to the incident report, Baby Blue, whose real name is Diamond Blue Smith, had been at the bowling alley for a Sunday night event, was hit in the shoulder in an attempted robbery at “approximately midnight.”

“Two victims were in the parking lot of Sparez, next to their vehicles when two unknown armed male suspects approached,” said the report. “A physical altercation ensued over the attempted robbery of a gold chain necklace which resulted in the suspect firearm discharging, striking the victim in the left shoulder area.”

People who saw the Instagram post were immediately confused and a lot of them dismissed it as a prank. "Am I slow or did he DM y’all his own breaking news," a follower commented on the post.

Comedian Lil Duval commented, "So he get shot then dm ya'll?" with laughing emojis. In the light of these comments, the outlet shared another post, this time sharing the video of what appeared to be Baby Blue lying on the floor in a pool of blood surrounded by his team asking for help. The artist, who goes by multiple different names including Diamond Blue Smith and Baby Blue Whoaaaa, used to be on the VH1 show 'Love & Hip Hop'.

Who is Baby Blue?

Baby Blue is a member of the hip hop group Pretty Ricky that originated in Miami, Florida. The group originally featured Blue whose birth name is Diamond Smith and his brother Spectacular Smith plus Corey Mathis who goes by the stage name Slick 'Em, and Marcus Cooper (Pleasure P). Baby Blue had just recently decided to fly solo and release music of his own. He was about to travel across cities with the Millenium Tour throughout 2020 which stood canceled after the coronavirus restrictions were set in motion. 

Baby Blue and the group Pretty Ricky found success in mid-2000s and they amassed a huge fandom and their albums 'Bluestars' and 'Late Night Special' went gold and their single 'Grind With Me' and 'On the Hotline' were certified platinum. The group joined the Millenium Tour alongside B2K, Mario, Chingy, Ying Yang Twins, Lloyd, and Bobby Valentino in 2019.
