'The Voice' Season 28 finale adds two major guest performers — and we couldn't be more excited
With 'The Voice' Season 28 finale scheduled for Monday, December 15, and Tuesday, December 16, the stakes are getting higher than ever. Apart from the winner being finally announced, the finale will be an event decked with stardom. Adding to the glamour of the episode, two guest performers, including a Japanese girl group, are all set to wow audiences in 'The Voice' finals.
A recent report by People revealed that Khalid and global girl group XG will be performing on the first night of 'The Voice' finals on December 16. While Khalid's song remains a surprise, XG will perform their single 'GALA,' making it their first-ever U.S. TV performance. XG, consisting of seven members, Jurin, Chisa, Hinata, Harvey, Juria, Maya, and Cocona, debuted in 2022 with 'Tippy Toes'. The group also charted on the Billboard 200 with their mini-album 'AWE' and launched a world tour. 'GALA' is the lead track from their upcoming first full album, 'THE CORE – 核', releasing in January.
Talking about Khalid, the singer recently released his new album, 'After the Sun Goes Down', and told People that the project reflects his personal taste. "I wanted to make music that I like to listen to myself," he said. Explaining that the record is inspired by the pop icons he grew up admiring, he continued, "It's like a huge ode to just the beautiful icons that came before me. Singing a melody of a Britney [Spears] song or watching a Rihanna video really charged my freedom of expression as a child." Khalid added that the album let him reconnect with his childhood dreams. "I've always dreamt of being this pop star. I really tapped into that little boy and gave him his shine that he always wanted," he said.
Meanwhile, after its November 24 episode, 'The Voice' Season 28 will continue with the Playoffs airing on December 1 and December 8. Each coach can only pick one artist to advance, while fans will choose the final two for the live shows, as per NBC. 'The Voice' Season 29 arrives in early 2026 with major changes, shifting to a three-coach format and updated rules. Kelly Clarkson, John Legend, and Adam Levine return for the newly titled 'The Voice: Battle of Champions', premiering February 23, 2026.
Meanwhile, for Season 28, three coaches have already used their Mic Drop buttons, with Michael Bublé for Max Chambers, Niall Horan for Dek of Hearts, and Reba McEntire for Aaron Nichols, leaving only Snoop Dogg without a pick. After the latest episode, voting opens for the Mic Drop competition (which doesn't affect the main Season 28 results). Fans can vote once per email via The Voice app or NBC.com/VoiceVote until Friday, November 28, 7 am ET/4 am PT.
