Who is Akuapem Poloo? Cardi B supports actress Rosemond Brown jailed for posting nude photo with 7-year-old son
Cardi B has come out in support of an actress who was jailed for 90 days in Ghana because of a nude photoshoot she did with her son on the child's seventh birthday. The rapper took part in an international outrage against the "harsh" sentence handed down to the actress, who has been identified as Akuapem Poloo.
In Cardi's defense of the actor originally known as Rosemond Alade Brown, the rapper wrote, “I seen a lot of Americans do photoshoots like that. Even tho is not my style I don’t think she was going for sexual more going the natural idea. I think jail is a bit harsh. Maybe social media probation or community service.” But she wasn't alone in her outrage against the sentence as many in the world were part of the same.

Who is Akuapem Poloo?
The 31-year-old single mother has been found guilty of posting "obscene material" after she shared the naked snap of herself with her son on social media, sometime in June 2020. Convicted of "domestic violence that undermines another person’s privacy or could harm someone’s dignity and self-worth”, Poloo can be seen in the photo with her modesty covered by her hair. Her son was seen wearing trunks in the photo, which a judge presiding over the case in the capital Accra compared to child abuse, in the light of rising "obscene materials" in Ghana.
The judge explained: “The court is bothered with posting nude photos on social media. Did she ask for the permission of the child before posting the said picture? Did she respect the child’s right? No she did not. There is no doubt that apart from the canker of rape, defilement, physical assault, the publication of obscene materials is on the increase." The judge presiding over her case is considering the fact she is a single parent, and her apparent remorse. She however added: "A harsh sentence will serve as a deterrent.”
