Hilary Duff slammed by sick trolls for posting 8-year-old son's 'nude' photo online
Hilary Duff is at the center of a new internet conspiracy. A now-deleted Twitter thread claims to "expose" the star's alleged role in child trafficking. The hit 'Lizzie McGuire' and 'A Cinderella Story' star is a mommy to son Luca Cruz Comrie, 8, and daughter, Banks Violet Bair.
The now-deleted thread allegedly read, "Hilary Duff accused of child trafficking, with her own son, a thread..." and then when on to show alleged screenshots from her Instagram story where her son was said to be "completely nude" with "white markings all over his body." That picture was allegedly lying on a bed along with other postcard-sized snapshots from his childhood. No sooner was it posted that trolls pounced on it with utterly sick claims that she was trying to "sell" her child. "It was clearly a message to the devils of the elites that her son is for sale. There is no other explanation," one disturbed individual wrote. In another screenshot in which her son could be seen, a fan wrote, "Liz posted a very disturbing Instagram story last month. It showed her son completely naked and taped to a bed. It was quickly deleted, but Reddit saved the video and reported her. Her ex-husband has been trying to get custody of her son for years."
Duff was married to Canadian NHL player Mike Comrie in 2010 and he is the father of the little boy. In 2014, Duff and Comrie announced their separation and said they would co-parent their son, but in 2015, the actress requested primary physical and legal joint custody of their son before their divorce was finalized in 2016.
One fan pointed out one of her old Instagram captions, where she had written: "Ugh, the skin, the blue eyes, the placement of the freckles, the best of all is the placement of his heart. My sweet sweet Luca. I love you all the way." Referring to it, the fan wrote, "The way Hilary Duff talks about her son in this pic is V disturbing Idk if rumors are true but this descriptive language can go... #HilaryDuff". After the disturbing claims hit social media, her fans were left a bit confused. "Wait a min... hold on. Hilary Duff has been exposed as a trafficker??? A TRAFFICKER? TO HER OWN CHILD?" one posted. Others seem to have believed what they read as another fan said, "This lady is so disgusting. Child trafficking?! YOUR KID?!? She needs to go to jail FOREVER!!!" Another pieced it back to an old report. "It's crazy how Hilary Duff was suing photographers back in Feb for taking pics of her kids....now I see why."
Some came to her support and slammed the fans who believed in those rumors. "Twitter really is notorious for creating the most CONVOLUTED & RIDICULOUS stories about actual people... now Hilary Duff is a “child trafficker” ???? Y’all r having fun ruining lives & reputations. Knock that shit off, it’s not funny #hilaryduff," one fan said and another wrote, "Dammn first LANA DEL REY then DOJA CAT now HILARY DUFF yall need to keep quiet and keep the rest of 2020 peaceful #HilaryDuff."
One said, "You do realize when she gets cleared you're probably going to be sued for slandering her name right. I don’t listen to conspiracy theory bullshit because one someone could have edited that picture on Reddit cause Reddit is full of crazies & two it’s a conspiracy thread. #hilaryduff."And another wrote, "The thing is because of this trending child services will have to look into it even if it is false and completely fake conspiracy theory bullshit. People are fucking crazy and I hope she sues the person that made up the rumor about her. #hilaryduff@HilaryDuff."
While it is highly unlikely there's any truth to the rumors, what we know for certain is that the Internet is a scary place full of bizarre individuals.
Duff, however, tackled all her trolls with one line on Twitter stating: "Everyone bored af right now I know..but this is actually disgusting..... whoever dreamed this one up and put this garbage into the universe should take a break from their damn phone. Maybe get a hobby."
