'Whitney Houston & Bobbi Kristina: Didn't We Almost Have It All': Release date, trailer and all about Lifetime documentary

Legendary crooner Whitney Houston and her daughter Bobbi Kristina Brown lived a very similar life and unfortunately also met a similar tragic end. There have been several discussions about their lives in the media, however, a brand new two-hour documentary on their lives will bring their relationship into a new spotlight that only their family members or close friends knew until now.

The documentary has been titled ‘Whitney Houston & Bobbi Kristina: Didn’t We Almost Have It All.’ The name of the documentary-film comes from one of the songs of the late singer. ‘Didn’t We Almost Have It All’ was the second single from Whitney Houston's second album ‘Whitney.’ The track was penned by Michael Masser and Will Jennings and produced by Masser. The song received a Grammy nomination for Song of the Year.

Release date

‘Whitney Houston & Bobbi Kristina: Didn’t We Almost Have It All’ will premiere on Lifetime Saturday, February 6 at 8 p.m. ET/PT. The documentary will be followed by an encore presentation of Lifetime's ‘Whitney,’ which debuted in 2015.

Plot

The official description of the documentary reads, as revealed by the website ShadowAndAct, “The two-hour documentary presents an in-depth look at the parallel lives of renowned singer Whitney Houston and her daughter Bobbi Kristina. Both faced similar struggles – living in the shadow of their famous mothers, criticized for their love choices and often used for their fame and fortune – and both turned to drugs and alcohol for relief from the pressures of being in the spotlight, before prematurely leaving the earth in the same tragic way.” 

It further says, “In an emotional and candid look at the ups and downs of their personal stories, and a celebration of their lives, Whitney Houston & Bobbi Kristina offers intimate conversations with the friends and family that were closest to them.”

Cast

The brand new documentary will, of course, feature the archival footage of multiple award-winning singer Whitney Houston and her daughter Bobbi Kristina Brown. The viewers might also see rare footage of singer’s late husband Bobbi Brown. Apart from these, Whitney’s friend Peri “Pebbles” Reid, who is also a singer and a producer, will be seen in the Lifetime docu-film. Bobby Brown's sister Tina Brown, Whitney’s former creative director Tiffanie Dixon and Whitney’s goddaughter Brandi Boyd will also be spotted in the upcoming project revealing the unheard stories behind the curtain.

The much-celebrated singer died at the age of 48 after she was found unconscious at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, California, submerged in the bathtub. The news of her death coincided with the 2012 Grammy Awards and was featured prominently in international media. She was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2020.

Bobbi Kristina Brown

The reality TV personality was introduced to fame at a very young age. The daughter of singers Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown got famous for her appearances on the reality show ‘Being Bobby Brown.’ In January 2015, Brown was found unconscious in a filled bathtub in her home. Brown died from lobar pneumonia on July 26, 2015, after being in a coma for nearly six months. She was only 22.

‘Whitney Houston & Bobbi Kristina: Didn’t We Almost Have It All’ is produced by Entertainment One and Creature Films. Tara Long, Shawna Foster, Madison Merritt, Mark Ford and Kevin Lopez serve as the executive producers on the project along with Brandi Burnside-Boyd. Also executive producing for Lifetime is Brie Miranda Bryant and Gena McCarthy.
