Rachel Senott's 'I Love L.A.' takes the spotlight ahead of the debut season finale. And in what comes as good news, the dramedy has already been renewed for a season 2 by HBO. The sitcom premiered this November, and has consistently held the top spot as one of the network and streamer's best shows.

Episode 8 will end the first run of the season and will air on HBO and HBO Max on Sunday, December 21. The much-awaited finale also caps off what has been an impressive and consistent performance. Per HBO, the show is “among the fastest growing” of its original comedies, averaging nearly two million cross-platform viewers in the U.S.

'I Love L.A.' follows Sennott as Maia Simsbury, a driven talent manager whose personal and professional lives clash when her estranged best friend and influencer Tallullah (Odessa A'zion) enters her life. The show also boasts an impressive ensemble cast that includes True Whitaker, Jordan Firstman, Josh Hutcherson, and Leighton Meester, with guest appearances from Ayo Edebiri and Elijah Wood.

In her recent interview with Deadline, Sennott spoke about writing and creating the Gen-Z hangout comedy. "I wanted to obviously not take ourselves too seriously," she said about the characters on the show. She also acknowledged drawing inspiration from her personal life.

"Especially if I look at my younger siblings,” she continued. “One of my sisters went to college for one year, then had to come home for COVID. My other sister is doing high school on Zoom…then there are strikes. The government isn’t... the job market, all of it, it’s just hard.

"We’re not able to accomplish the same things our parents were at this age. It feels like nothing you do is ever enough. There’s way too much information on our phones. [There’s] images in my mind that I will never delete…" she candidly added.

Earlier, Amy Gravitt, EVP of HBO Programming and head of HBO and HBO Max comedy series, weighed in on the news of the show's renewal. "We’re thrilled by the incredible response to ‘The Chair Company’ and ‘I Love L.A.’ debuts,” she said. "Both shows confidently carry on the HBO comedy tradition, in their own singular way. We couldn’t be happier to continue collaborating with Tim, Zach, Rachel, and their exceptional teams."

At the time of writing, there is no official confirmation on the release window for 'I Love L.A.' Season 2.
