When will 'The Stand' Episode 7 air? Frannie and Stu may or may not survive the explosion during the vigil
Spoilers ahead for ‘The Walk’ Episode 6 ‘The Vigil’
We are reaching the end of the CBS All Access limited series, ‘The Stand’, based on Stephen King’s novel of the same name. Episode 6 of the show, ‘The Vigil’, sees Mother Abigail (Whoopi Goldberg) encounter a vision of Randall Flagg (Alexander Skarsgård) in the woods. Flagg goads Mother Abagail into giving up, taunting her for the fact that God doesn’t seem to be speaking to her any longer -- the reason why she chose exile. But she in turn calls Flagg out as a cheap sorcerer whose power is dependent on the belief of his followers.
But things get really exciting with the arrival of the Trashcan Man (Ezra Miller), a pyromaniac also known as Donald Merwin Elbert, in Vegas. In King’s book, the Trashcan Man is that of a mentally ill young man whose immunity to Captain Trips freed him to enact his darker, explosive visions, including blowing up a lot of Gary, Indiana. In the show, the Trashcan Man is that and more. So much so that others in Flagg’s camp are uneasy with this development.
Lloyd (Nat Wolff) even tries to convince Flagg that they don’t need this raving madman in their ranks. We also see Tom Cullen (Brad William Henke), the spy from Boulder, getting out of town before Flagg realizes his true identity.
Back in Boulder, Harold (Owen Teague), who has been seduced by Nadine (Amber Heard), tells her just how he plans to put their plan to execution, a plan they have been making for the last few episodes. It is to blow up the vigil being held tonight for Mother Abagail’s safe return.
That moment arrives, but not as planned. At all. Nadine and Harold watch from up the mountain as the vigil starts. People down below note that Frannie (Odessa Young) is missing when a signal comes in that Mother Abagail has been found. This delays people entering the home that Nadine and Harold have rigged with explosives. As some people enter, the device goes off and incinerates Nick (Henry Zaga). We also see the bodies of Stu (James Marsden) and Frannie hit the ground.
What comes next?
Episode 7 of ‘The Stand’ is titled ‘The Walk’ and we are likely to find out who survived the blast and who did not. As per the book, Nick is definitely dead. But the series, as it reaches its final chapters may just decide to kill a few other characters. The title of the episode may signify what Nadine will do next.
As per the book, in the aftermath of the explosion, Nadine and Harold immediately leave Boulder and head west. But things don't end well for the latter. At Nadine's request, Flagg arranges an accident where Harold's motorbike skids off into a ravine, leaving him to die of his injuries. And it is then that Nadine finally meets Flagg. Without going into more details, things are about to get ugly for her as well. But we’ll get to that later.
