Season 1 of ‘Ted Lasso’ by Apple TV+, based on the character portrayed by its creator and lead actor Jason Sudeikis in a series of promos for NBC Sports’ coverage of the Premier League opened to a great response when it premiered in August. The comedy sports series was renewed for a Season 2 just within five days of its release, thanks to brilliant ratings and compelling plot. The television series which has received an audience score of 98% on Rotten Tomatoes has finished airing eight episodes so far and the first season will be concluding on October 2nd with its tenth episode titled, ‘The Hope that Kill You’.

Where we left off

‘Ted Lasso’ sees Sudeikis in the title character, a folksy American hired to coach a soccer team. Although he comes across as a country bumpkin, Lasso is much smarter than he looks. So far the series has followed his journey as the coach of the struggling football team AFC Richmond, who took up the job to move away from his family in order to give his wife the space she wanted. While coaching Richmond, Lasso grows closer to the team members and its owner Rebecca and as his marriage falls apart. The last two episodes of Season 1 are expected to showcase a  possibility of romance between Ted and Rebecca as hinted throughout the season.

While the first season is yet to conclude, fans of the show are already eagerly waiting for the release of the second installment. Some of them are even requesting the streaming network to include more episodes in Season 2, for they aren’t getting enough of Sudeikis’s comical chops. One fan tweeted, “Ted Lasso is an absolute HIT. I hope season 2 has more episodes. Season 1 only slated for like 9-10." While another added, "Same here! It being about soccer helps but it doesn't matter really. You can't help but root for them. I'm on the verge of "wholesome family tears" each episode lol. Happy to see it was renewed for Season 2. Really excited to see where they take it, & I still have eps 8-10 to go"
