For Blinks, the upcoming year is dropping more than one surprise. Along with a mega virtual concert in January, Blackpink members Lisa and Rosé are reportedly gearing up for their solo album releases next year. Here’s what YG Entertainment said about the news.

According to Korean media reports, YG Entertainment sources have confirmed that Rosé and Lisa will be soon announcing their debut album projects. Their solo albums will also have music videos, the entertainment mogul has reportedly stated. Though the company hasn’t specified any date as such, the ‘official’ news of Rosé and Lisa dropping solo music is a cause of celebration for the Blink fanbase as they have been waiting for the K-pop superstars' solo projects for so long.

Earlier in the 2020 Netflix documentary, Rosé teased her fans with a snippet of her solo project and also opened up about the process of making it, the difficulties that making solo music accompany, and how she was handling the pressure of it all. The 23-year-old Kpop sensation admitted, "I feel like I scare myself the most," and went on to say, "When I'm in my room by myself, and I go, 'Should I try and write something?' I think I'm way more intimidated then. 'Cause it's just me. I don't know if my opinions are right, and that scares me."

Rosé also revealed how music producers Teddy Park and Joe "Vince" Rhee helped her in making her solo album possible. Park said in the documentary, "When it comes to writing songs, Rosé has certain stories in mind. And she's shy about sharing that story." He added, "It's just super personal to her. It's like her diary." Rose chimed in saying, "We even saved this whole file in this secret folder because I said nobody can listen to it. I was like, 'Hide it from everyone,'" but later she acknowledged, "It's nice to have just the right amount of people in the room, who are just there to accept whatever is there and make it into something."

Earlier this year, YG Entertainment also confirmed Lisa and Rosé’s music dropping soon when they put out a statement saying, "YG has released Jennie’s first-ever solo single SOLO back in November 2018, and has been working on Rosé’s first-ever solo track for over a year. We ask for your understanding on taking more time than expected, since we were planning to release multiple songs in an album format, rather than releasing a digital single. Rosé’s solo works have already been completed, and its release date is planned to be in September after the release of BLACKPINK’s first-ever full-length album. It is because all the members agreed that BLACKPINK’s comeback as an entire group and their first-ever full-length album release is more important than anything."

YG Entertainment also talked about Lisa’s musical venture stating, “Furthermore, Lisa’s amazing solo single is already prepared for release, and we are currently preparing for Jisoo’s solo single release as well.”

Since the news of Lisa and Rosé releasing solo music surfaced, Blinks have been flooding Twitter. Here’s what the fans are saying. A Lisa fan wrote, “After 11111 years LISA SOLO IS COMING lol.” Another excited fan wrote, “If I scream as loudly externally as I am internally, then I will actually wake up the whole street. I'm so excited to hear what they've been hiding all this time. I would like to hear a date sometime soon though.” Another user wrote, “this is gonna be blackpink's decade they started off strong in 2020 and continuing until 2021 omg!”

According to reports, Jisoo will also record her solo music once she wraps up the JTBC TV series ‘Snowdrop’ likely to be aired in 2021.
