'When I Was the Most Beautiful' Episode 10: Jin's suspicions about Ye-ji and Hwan soars, says divorce is an option
'When I Was the Most Beautiful' Episode 10 began with Jin (Ha Seok-jin) confronting Hwan (Ji Soo) about the recent scandal online about Hwan and Ye-ji (Lim Soo-hyang). He asks Hwan if his brother still likes Ye-ji after all these years and if he does, would he really have felt happy about his brother returning? Hwan initially tries to convince his brother that nothing is going on between Ye-ji and himself, however, when Jin continues to hurl accusations, Hwan has had enough and he tells his brother that he should be ashamed of himself for putting his entire family through an ordeal that left his wife even guilty of having led a normal life after he went missing.
Despite the harsh criticism, Jin doesn't seem to let go of his suspicions. Hwan's behavior doesn't help assuage Jin's fears either and over time, Jin's frustration and doubt just rack up. The way both Hwan and Ye-ji hesitate when discussing Hwan visiting Korea in Jin's absence further increases his doubts. Jin is also reticent about receiving any kind of warmth from people that he loves and as a result, he had hidden away from his family. Carie Jung had helped him hide from his family, and stayed away from everything that took place in their lives. However, now that he has returned, Jin's expectation that people around him should be the same as they were in the past is unrealistic. Be it the fact that Ye-ji's mother was released from jail three years ago, or that Hwan was able to comfort Ye-ji during the toughest of times makes Jin insecure about his relationship with Ye-jin.
When Jin arrives at Ye-ji's workshop in a market that Hwan is redeveloping, he realizes that Ye-ji's mother works nearby and he goes berserk even before he listens to Ye-ji's feelings regarding her mother. He, in fact, tells her that he had assumed that his responsibility was to accept Ye-ji who would cut off from her family and stay away from her toxic relatives and he says he doesn't understand why she had to develop warm and fuzzy feelings for her mother now. Despite Ye-ji trying to explain that her intentions were not to get back with her mother, he ignores everything that she has to say.
In a moment of frustration, Ye-ji tells him that Hwan, unlike Jin or her mother, never forced her to be different but accepted her for who she was. She iteration that Hwan is better than him at treating her right irks Jin enough to get him to throw a tantrum. He goes to Hwan's room at home and turns it upside down. Then he finds the things that Hwan had kept safe, things that were associated with Ye-ji and this causes him more frustration. He then arrives at Ye-ji's room and there he ends up going all out. He finds the pictures of Ye-ji and Hwan in Jeju Island, the one time that Hwan had visited during the time that Jin was missing.
Everything that Jin had pent up in him ends up bursting and he asks Ye-ji about all of it. He even asks her if she slept with Hwan when he is interrupted by his brother. Hwan tries to explain to Jin that things are not how he perceived them to be. Things spiral out of hand so much that Jin ends up joining his mother's company as a Director to help her against outside forces trying to get her to resign as the CEO. He also tells Ye-ji that he is ready to give her a divorce if that that is what she wants. How will Ye-ji react?
'When I was Most Beautiful' will air on MBC on Wednesdays and Thursdays at 9.30 pm KST. It will be available on Viu outside South Korea.
