Angelina Jolie once confessed she couldn't 'wait to get to work' with Brad Pitt on 'Mr and Mrs Smith' sets
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: ‘Mr and Mrs Smith’ was an eventful film in the lives and career of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. The couple, who were once the ‘it’ couple of the tinsel town, came close due to the romantic action thriller of 2004. However, when the two stars met, Brad Pitt was married to the ‘FRIENDS’ star Jennifer Aniston. Once in an interview with Vogue, the ‘Maleficent’ actress revealed that they “just became kind of a pair” when Pitt was married to his “best friend.”
Jolie revealed in the interview, “But it was clear he was with his best friend, someone he loves and respects,” as per People. She further revealed the fact that none of them were looking for a relationship when they fell for each other. Jolie said, “And so we were both living, I suppose, very full lives. I think we were the last two people who were looking for a relationship. I certainly wasn’t. I was quite content to be a single mom.”

However, Jolie continued, “Brad was a huge surprise to me. I, like most people, had a very distant impression of him from … the media.” She added, “Because of the film, we ended up being brought together to do all these crazy things, and I think we found this strange friendship and partnership that kind of just suddenly happened. I think a few months in I realized, ‘God, I can’t wait to get to work.’ … Anything we had to do with each other, we just found a lot of joy in it together and a lot of real teamwork. We just became kind of a pair.”
The pair did not instantly become a couple though. After the separation of Pitt and Aniston was announced in early 2005, the pair slowly made their relationship public, as she said, “It took until, really, the end of the shoot for us, I think, to realize that it might mean something more than we’d earlier allowed ourselves to believe. And both knowing that the reality of that was a big thing, something that was going to take a lot of serious consideration.”
'That was really uncool'
In 2008, Aniston, with reference to Jolie’s interview, once said, “There was stuff printed there that was definitely from a time when I was unaware that it was happening,” as per US Weekly. She further said, “I felt those details were a little inappropriate to discuss. That stuff about how she couldn’t wait to get to work every day? That was really uncool.”
'Relationships are complicated'
However, earlier, Aniston once shared with Vanity Fair, as reported by The Mirror, there were cracks in their marriage even before Jolie stepped in. The ‘Murder Mystery’ star said, as ‘FRIENDS’ came to an end in 2004, Pitt “just wasn't there for me.” She further added in the interview, “It’s just complicated.” Aniston added, “Relationships are complicated. You’re two people continually evolving, and there will be times when those changes clash. There are all these levels of growth — and when you stop growing together, that’s when the problems happen.”
