Before Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston could get back to being friends or as rumor would have it, rekindled lovers, they had to traverse on a long path of forgiving and forgetting that started with the 'Once Upon a Time in Hollywood' actor taking the first step and admitted that he was wrong.

Back in 2005, when their marriage fell apart after Pitt took a shining to his 'Mr. and Mrs. Smith' co-star, Angelina Jolie, Aniston was was reported left hurt and heartbroken. So when Pitt got divorced for the second time in 2016, from Jolie, he, having grown into a mature individual, had enough insight to realize that what he had put his first wife through was unfair. As a result, he decided to apologize to her with the intention of mending his friendship with Aniston.

“Brad is in such a different place than he was when they were together. Brad is truly an introspective guy who has worked hard on himself. He has apologized to her for many things he felt were his issues in their relationship. He truly takes ownership for his mistakes and that has changed their relationship with each other today. They both have moved on. Right now they just love and adore each other and have been much closer friends since their divorces. Brad has grown so much in his life since he and Jen broke up," an insider told Entertainment Tonight.

Fast forward 15 years and the pair have nothing but adoration in their eyes for each other. There also have been reports of sparks flying between the two of them after Pitt graced Aniston's 50th birthday bash last year. Since then, the pair has reportedly gone on a number of dates including a tryst at the 'Friends' star's home.

Meanwhile, body language expert Patti Wood told Good Housekeeping that there was a certain “tenderness” between Pitt and Aniston when they were pictured running into each other at the Screen Actors Guild Awards in January.

"It indicates that she trusts him ... she's giving her weight forward. She is not making it too sexual because she's got her feet back, but the photo to me shows trust," Patti claimed. "So little of their faces are showing and yet we know they're joyful and I just love that moment of absolute intimacy between them. That's not for the cameras, they're sharing that joy."

Pitt was seen mouthing the words "oh my God" during Aniston's acceptance speech at the SAG Awards, and they were later seen holding hands backstage. When she was asked about how she felt seeing Brad that evening, she sweetly replied, "It just feels like a really fun night to cheer each other on. We’ve all grown up together, we really have."

On being inquired about rumors of them getting back together, she felt it was "hysterical" and added, "But what else are they going to talk about?"

Pitt shares half a dozen kids — 18-year-old Maddox, 16-year-old Pax, 15-year-old Zahara, 13-year-old Shiloh, and 11-year-old twins Vivienne and Knox - with Jolie.
