What REALLY happened to Damar Hamlin? Conspiracy theorists go nuts as NFL star keeps mum over cause of cardiac arrest
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Damar Hamlin suffered a cardiac arrest on January 2, during a match between Cincinnati Bengals and Buffalo Bills and the NFL star was recently spotted at Super Bowl 2023 with his caregivers. While he has not spoken about the cause of the cardiac arrest, people have started floating their own theories about the cause, especially after a recent interview.
During a match with the Bengals, the doctors and trainers administered CPR and used a defibrillator on the field to resuscitate him. However, he was immediately rushed to a hospital and the match was suspended. Though the decision regarding his return is yet to be made, he is slowly recovering. In a recent conversation with ABC, when he was asked what happened to him as he was a healthy and fit 24-year-old, he responded, “Umm, that’s something I want to stay away from."

What did Damar Hamlin say?
In the interview, Hamlin reportedly said, "I owe Denny [Kellington] my life, literally. He loves to say he was just doing his job, which is true. That night he was literally the savior of my life, administrating CPR on me, and that’s something I’m truly thankful for and I don’t take for granted,” adding, “It’s just a crazy feeling. Something I can’t describe yet, something I’m still processing, something I’m still trying to work through. Why did that happen to me?"
The 24-year-old continued, “They [doctors] can’t really tell because it’s up to me. It’s a long road and they just are worried about trying to get me back to normal as much as they can,” adding, "I'm still working through things. I'm still trying to process all the emotions and the trauma that comes from, you know, dealing with a situation like that and not really having people around or, you know, like, no one in my immediate circle who's dealt with something like that."
Hamlin went on, "I'm competitive, playing with my full heart and everything I've got in me. That competitive nature in me was just still just thinking about the game. "I'm just thankful [God] gave me a second chance, you know, just to live normally and just come out almost without a scratch on me. Just to be able to keep going," per ABC.
