What is Sandy Alcantara’s net worth? Pitcher wins NL Cy Young Award, fans call it 'correct choice'
MIAMI, FLORIDA: Sandy Alcantara Montero, the 27-year-old pitcher for Miami Marlins, has been announced as the 2022 NL Cy Young winner, following in the footsteps of Justin Verlander and Clayton Kershaw in terms of delivering a near-perfect season. He was unanimously chosen as the winner and his six complete games were the most in MLB. Alcantara had competition from players like Max Fried and Julio Urias.
The Miami Marlins pitcher first signed with St Louis Cardinals as an international free agent in 2013 and made his MLB debut with them in 2017. The Cardinals traded Alcantara, Magneuris Sierra, Zac Gallen, and Daniel Castano to the Miami Marlins for Marcell Ozuna. At the time, he was ranked as the third-best prospect for the 2018 season. He became the sole Miami Marlins player named to the 2019 Major League Baseball All-Star Game. The ace baseball player became the first Dominican pitcher to win a Cy Young in either league since Bartolo Colon. He outbid his competition by completing six games whereas no other MLB starting staff combined for more than five. MLB announced the win writing, "A special season in South Beach. Sandy Alcantara is your 2022 NL Cy Young winner!"
