'Kate Upton is the anti-Gisele': Fans laud supermodel's support for husband Justin Verlander

People drew comparisons between Gisele Bündchen and Kate Upton after the latter said she would not pressurize her husband to retire

HOUSTON, TEXAS: Saturday, November 5, saw the Houston Astros beat the Philadelphia Phillies 4-1 in Game 6, thus clinching the World Series in front of their home crowd. With the stadium cheering on in absolute excitement, model Kate Upton joined her husband, Astros pitcher Justin Verlander in a post-match interview. 

Speaking to Fox Sports, the 30-year-old model was asked if she wanted her 39-year-old husband to retire now that he had won his second World Series title. This was a not-so-veiled reference to another model and athlete pairing, namely Gisele Bündchen and Tom Brady, who recently made news due to their separation. However, the supermodel did not falter. "I love watching my husband do what he loves…to see him do his craft. He’s such an artist out there when he’s pitching, it's really so creative. It's such an art and we are so honored," answered Upton, causing her husband to blush and laugh.

Those on Twitter were quick to draw comparisons between Bündchen and Upton, lauding the latter for supporting her husband's career, while the former had allegedly issued an ultimatum for Brady to retire, reports Total Pro Sports. One fan noted, "One other takeaway from last night. A super model wife loves watching her man play sports. The other is getting divorced. Maybe Tom Brady is full of himself. Maybe Gisele has issues of her own. Kate Upton appears to love her life something the other two can't do together." While another wrote, "These 2 are great. Kate Upton a real one." 

One person noted that Gisele should "take notes" from Upton, while another joked, "Someone definitely sent Brady this video with the laughing emoji." Others also pitied Brady, with someone else tweeting, "Tom Brady sick right now" and another echoing that Brady must be in "SHAMBLES." Others simply called Upton the "anti-Gisele," and tweeted, "Kate Upton >>>>>>>>> Giesle." 

Fans lauded the supermodel for recognizing her husband's achievements. "MVP wife right there. She sees the love and passion he has, and would never take it away, but try to grow it instead. That’s goals!" At the same time, there were others who defended Bündchen, saying that the two couples and their situations cannot be compared. "2 different situations. Brady’s wife probably wanted out anyhow… not the case with Upton/ Verlander," tweeted one person. "That’s awesome, but guess what baseball doesn’t have that football does? CTE. Justin Verlander will remember his own name and the names of his kids, lot of NFL’ers won’t be able to say the same. Leave Giselle alone, support takes many forms," opined another.
