Is Iggy Azalea coming out of retirement? Rapper says 'cry about it', fans claim ‘she’s going to flop’
Iggy Azalea, who walked away from music after the release of her third album ‘End of an Era’ in July 2021, has had a change of heart. The Australian female emcee is all set to make a powerful comeback to rap music. The ‘Fancy’ hitmaker made a big announcement on Twitter on Monday, August 8, while also taking a sly dig at the haters.
The 32-year-old rapper in her new post claimed that since there was no change in perception of people despite hanging her boots, she decided to make a comeback. Iggy added that since she can’t have her peace then neither would they. Iggy had earlier slammed the industry for body-shaming her throughout her entire career. The rapper’s third album included guest appearances from artists namely BIA, Sophia Scott, Ellise, Alice Chater, and Tyga.

Is Iggy Azalea coming out of retirement?
Taking to Twitter with close to eight million followers, Iggy stated, “A year ago I was willing to walk away from music because I was tired of the negative energy it attracted.” She further explained, “But what I’ve learned is that even when I’m minding my business, y’all gonna be negative AND nosey” adding, “So if I can’t have peace, neither can you.” The skilled emcee concluded, “I’m coming back. Cry about it.”
In 2021, Iggy tweeted about shifting her focus to what she was excited about. The post came around the release of her third album. “Shifting my energy and focus to what I’m most excited about is what is right for me and I hope you’ll continue to support whatever creative projects I’m out here doing! I really love this album and I just want my fans to enjoy this with me. I hope I see so many of you on tour!”

Why did Iggy Azalea retire?
During an interview in August 2021 on the Zach Sang show, Iggy hinted that she decided to stop releasing music because of the increased assumptions made about her lyricism in relation to her real-life relationships. In July 2022, she also clapped back at the critics for body-shaming. “It’s a good thing I genuinely feel happy about myself & my body cause y’all stay in every comment section talking the most s**t about me & it’s very mean spirited & ugly. Ps. your man 100% wants to f**k me”, tweeted Iggy.
In 2019, Iggy took on the haters saying, “The music industry is so f**ked when it comes to taking advantage of/not respecting the women successfully operating within it; as well as those aspiring to break into it. It’s actually sad.”

‘She flopped then and she’s going to flop now’
Iggy Azalea coming out of rap retirement got mixed reactions on the Internet. While a few were ecstatic about the news, others felt Iggy was going to flop. “I’ve seen so many people loving you and realizing how talented you are and getting off the hate train. I’m so excited for you to show everyone your amazing talents.” Another posted, “I just want to say, you are made for this! I’m so glad that you see through the bulls**t! Focus on the positive! Your one of a kind! Your Iggy Iggzzz and you are a Legendary Goddess!”
The next one shared, “I am so happy to know that you are coming again, just as I was so sad and discouraged when you announced your retirement.” Whereas, another tweeted, “I wish people like this could see how shallow their fake retirements actually look. Literally no one fell for the fake “I’m done with music” shtick from a 32-year-old rapper at the height of her career. This isn’t the “comeback” she thinks it is.” Another mentioned, “She flopped then and she’s going to flop now but okay.” One added, “Does it make a difference either way she’s nowhere to be seen on the charts.” And, another concluded, “Iggy actually has a good music. And her visuals are top tier. I understand she’s a foreign white girl and should have had more awareness on the industry/culture but I blame T.I. mostly on that. Give credit where it’s due.”
