‘Paradise’ Season 2 finale might confirm Multiverse theory and it’s way more terrifying than you think
Ever since 'Paradise' Season 2 premiered on February 23 on Hulu, the mystery about Alex's true identity and purpose has kept fans buzzing. As the show's season 2 draws to a close on March 30, we will finally have all the answers about Alex and the multiverse theory, which was heavily teased in the penultimate episode. The finale, 'Exodus,' is written by John Hoberg and Seena Haddad and will showcase what happens to the survivors trapped inside an exploding bunker. The post-apocalyptic thriller, created by Dan Fogelman, is already renewed for Season 3, so we know that the series won't reveal all its cards and save some mysteries for the next season.
For starters, we know that Alex is the name of the quantum scientist and professor, Henry Miller’s wife, who was bedridden from Huntington’s disease. Miller killed his beloved wife to spare her any future agony before Billy showed up at his doorstep to kill him on Sinatra's orders. Since Miller owned Vestige Quantum, (the main reason he was killed, as he refused to sell it), along with Link, Sinatra takes over the company after his death. As the episodes rolled out, it became clear that Alex is not a person, but a secret project developed at Vestige Quantum that possibly delved into time travel and multiverses. Other clues depict Alex as a last resort for humanity when Earth becomes completely uninhabitable.
The biggest bombshell that convinced fans 'Paradise' Season 2 is dealing with space travel came in Episode 7, 'The Final Countdown,' which aired on March 23. Sinatra walks away from her meeting with Link, learning that his real name is Dylan, the same as her deceased son, and that their birthdates match. It's too much of a coincidence, and Sinatra seems convinced that Link is another form of Dylan, possibly from another universe, who has traveled to Earth. How does Link know that Alex is hidden inside the Colorado bunker? It points to some past connection with Sinatra that he may or may not be fully aware of.
At the end of last week’s episode, the bunker was under total lockdown, and its nuclear reactors went into meltdown, trapping people inside waiting for death. These people have only two choices: either die of suffocation or put their trust in Link, who may be the only one capable of saving them through Project Alex. Perhaps Link has perfected multiverse travel and had initially landed on Earth to save this world from the apocalyptic event. Since he couldn’t stop that existential threat, he is determined to save his mother and other survivors by guiding them to another universe through Project Alex. Also, the finale’s title, ‘Exodus,’ lends credence to this hypothesis.
The show's protagonist, Xavier Collins, has never met Link, but keeps having visions of him following Link down the sterile hallways after the Graceland plane crash in the Season 2 premiere. It's likely that he may have passed through a wormhole and is experiencing visions of his counterparts from other universes. If this theory holds, then there could also be an infinite number of Janes and Billys across the multiverse, causing havoc. Put all your fan theories to the test on March 30 by watching the Season 2 finale of 'Paradise' only on Hulu and Disney+.
