'Jingle Bell Heist' is the exact kind of holiday film one keeps coming back to time and again. Having recently premiered on streaming platform giant Netflix on November 26, 'Jingle Bell Heist' stars Connor Swindells and Olivia Holt in the leading roles. Directed by Michael Fimognari, known for 'To All The Boys: P.S. I Still Love You', with a screenplay by Amy Reed and 'Bridgerton' writer Abby McDonald, the 'Jingle Bell Heist' is a delightful escapade replete with mirth and laughter.

'Jingle Bell Heist' shows Holt and Swindell play two miserable wage earners, Sophie and Nick, who are down on their luck on Christmas Eve. To alleviate their circumstances, they decide to rob one of the most coveted department stores in London during the holidays. As per Netflix's official synopsis, "When Sophia Martin (Holt) moved to London from Philadelphia to care for her mother after a cancer diagnosis, she expected life across the pond to be a bit more affordable. Stuck caretaking while working two jobs, Sophia's at her wits' end when she learns her mother's surgery won't be covered by insurance. Desperate for a quick payday, she resorts to robbing her horrible boss, Maxwell Sterling (Serafinowicz), only to be caught by Nick O'Connor, a former security consultant turned phone technician."

The synopsis further reads, "Nick has no reason to turn Sophia in, though. He's more interested in teaming up with her to land funds to take care of his daughter after his recent divorce. So Sophia and Nick ally out of desperation, but, as the pair begin to plan the ultimate seasonal scam — a holiday heist at a posh department store — their scheming relationship might just turn into something more." But the greatest plot twist on 'Jingle Bell Heist' is served when the audience learns that Maxwell Sterling is, after all, Sophia's father, who had been estranged from her and her ailing mother all these years.

Ultimately, the film ends with Maxwell's arrest and the majority of his estate and wealth being transferred to Cynthia. Nick is thus finally able to restore his relationship with his own daughter and afford an apartment where they could live together. Sophia, on her part, ends up realizing the depth of her love for Nick. For those wondering if 'Jingle Bell Heist' is a true story, the answer is no. It is a work of pure fiction penned by McDonald and Reed, and does not take any inspiration from real-life incidents. 'Jingle Bell Heist' is currently streaming exclusively on Netflix.
