LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: In February 2022, Netflix blessed us with the surprise announcement that the once-canceled television show 'Next in Fashion', was going to be renewed, and this time, with a new host. 'Next in Fashion' is a reality show and fashion design competition which gets designers from all across the world competing for a hefty cash prize. Hosted by fashion designer and TV personality Tan France, known for 'Queer Eye', alongside a new host supermodel Gigi Hadid, the series will return three years after its first season aired.

The sartorial reality series showcases 12 aspiring designers to create stylish and vanguard designs for not only winning a $200,000 prize but also showcasing their creations to the world. Last season was won by Minju Kim, who received the $250,000 prize and went on to have her collection displayed on Net-a-Porter before working in collaboration. 'Next in Fashion' Season 2  is returning to Netflix on March 3 on the runway with France and a shiny new co-host, Hadid.

Who is starring in 'Next in Fashion' Season 2?

The delightfully wholesome reality series 'Next in Fashion' is finally coming back to Netflix, and it will include a ton of familiar people in addition to a new group of 12 outstanding aspiring designers, who will compete for a $200,000 prize and the chance to premiere their collection with Rent the Runway. France, our favorite presenter, would return to the show, and Alexa Chung's co-hosting duties would be taken over by supermodel Hadid. The streamer has also revealed the additional fashion icons you may anticipate seeing in the judges role are Jason Bolden and joining him will be American Vogue’s global contributing fashion editor, Gabriella Karefa-Johnson.

Tan france

Tanveer Wasim "Tan" France born on 20 April 1983 is a British-American fashion designer and television personality. He is one of the first openly gay South Asian men on a major show. The Disney apparel produced in his grandparents' denim business in Bury, England, where France worked, sparked his interest in fashion when he was a little child. By the time he was 13, he knew how to make and embellish a denim jacket. France attended Hall Cross School and later Doncaster College, where he studied fashion. 



 

Gigi Hadid

Jelena Noura "Gigi" Hadid born April 23, 1995, is a model and television personality. In 2016, she was named the International Model of the Year by the British Fashion Council. Born in Los Angeles, she began her modeling career as a child model for Baby Guess. She was signed with IMG Models in 2013 and made her New York Fashion Week debut the following year. She has appeared in numerous high fashion campaigns and editorials and is a spokesmodel for Maybelline.



 

Who will judge participants in 'Next in Fashion'?

Season 2 of the show will see the return of fashion mogul Jason Bolden, the celebrity stylist best known for dressing the likes of Angelina Jolie and Yara Shahidi. He will be joined by Karefa-Johnson. Further, guest judges  Bella Hadid, Hailey Bieber, Emma Chamberlain, Olivier Rousteing, Helena Christensen, Isabel Marant, Candice Swanepoel, Emily in Paris’s Ashley Park, and none other than Donatella Versace, will make appearances throughout the show.

Jason Bolden

Born and raised in St Louis, Missouri, Bolden is an entrepreneur, creative director, fashion stylist, and interior designer widely regarded for his clean aesthetic and elegant approach to style and living. Bolden began his career working in retail for luxury ready-to-wear houses including Chloe, Oscar de la Renta, and Gucci. 



 

Gabriella Karefa-Johnson

Karefa-Johnson is a stylist and editor located in New York who is renowned for both her strong eye for emerging designers and her narrative-led approach intended for diversity representation in fashion. She attended Barnard College, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History of Art. She went on to work as an Associate Fashion Director at Vogue Magazine for four years. She has also worked in the editorial departments of Allure Magazine, Vogue, Elle Magazine, WWD, Moda Operandi, and Teen Vogue.



 

Who are the designers featuring in 'Next in Fashion'?

Amari Carter

Amari Carter, who is from a small suburb outside of Atlanta, has always viewed fashion as a method to explore one's identity. The London College of Fashion graduate is most proud of her “cloud look” fashioned out of a transparent fabric that hints at a deeper meaning about the hiding of your own insecurities.



 

Bao Tranchi

Bao Tranchi is a costume and fashion designer. Tranchi has built a highly esteemed, 20-year career, renowned for extraordinary vision work ethic, and passion to create the most memorable designs. With clients like Jennifer Lopez, Nicki Minaj, and Laverne Cox, Tranchi has designs you’ve probably already seen on the red carpet. She graduated at the top of her class from Otis College of Art & Design at the age of 21. 



 

Courtney Smith

Smith is a designer from Ney York City. From a young age, her sense of style was shaped by the confident and expressive Black women she was raised and surrounded by in the Bronx. Smith designs for the plus size girls who want to stand out whenever they go out.



 

Danny Godoy

Danny Godoy is a full-time drag queen and fashion designer. Born and raised in Inglewood, California. The designer developed a sense of style early on as a way to express his creative side. After graduating from fashion school, he launched his own collection of bold, popping looks that are inspired by 'key moments in his own life. He’s designed outfits for some of the world’s top drag talent, including Naomi Smalls, Kim Chi, Bob the Drag Queen, Raven and Monét X Change.



 

Deontre Hancock

Born and raised in Washington, Deontre Hancock is a self-taught designer with a lifelong passion for fashion. Inspired by the city around him, the designer developed an early affinity for streetwear, pulling from the trends he saw around him. He always makes sure to add his own touch to the designs and is known for his puffer coats. 



 

Desyree Nicole

Desyree Nicole is a former basketball star and an Atlanta-based menswear designer who gave up the game to pursue fashion. She is a self-taught designer with no formal training and launched her brand Todd Patrick, which is named after her little brother.



 

Eliana Batsakis

Eliana Batsakis is one of the youngest competitors and didn't grow up wanting to be a designer. The Cincinnati-based designer and recent fashion school graduate began her journey in college, which shaped her sense of style around comfortability. Making a gown for a friend’s maternity shoot is the garment Batsakis is most proud of.



 

James Ford

James Ford is a former four-sport athlete and is a master of custom suiting. The designer pulls inspiration from silhouettes, color palettes, construction techniques, and practicality. Ultimately, he’s dedicated to prioritizing his client’s needs to discover what their suit will communicate to the world on behalf of them but never forgets to strike a balance between sophistication and fun.



 

Megan O’Cain

Megan O'Cain is a Brooklyn-based creator and is a graduate from Parsons School of Design. O'Cain's designs combine the nostalgia of early childhood and the ’60s sewing techniques to “create new exaggerated silhouettes in womenswear and are rooted in fun rather than sophistication. That holds especially true for her signature garment, a piece called the Honey Bunny Dress.



 

Nigel Xavier

Atlanta-based Nigel Xavier is a former high school football player. Xavier is all about patchwork and textile manipulation — crafting one-of-a-kind creations that have become favorites among some of the biggest names in music. He draws inspiration from the '90s and early 20s.



 

Qaysean Williams

Due to his impairment, the New Jersey-based designer, Qaysean Williams, who dabbles in acting and rapping, never saw himself portrayed in popular media as a child. Fashion was how Williams found his voice. After experimenting with his style in high school, Williams went on to launch his label, Manikin, which keeps accessibility at the forefront with adaptive garments that allow everybody to feel amazing.



 

Usama Ishtay

Raised in Venezuela and in a Syrian immigrant household, he was strongly influenced by the women in his family who studied and worked in fashion design. After moving to Los Angeles in 2015, Usama Ishtay began studying fashion design and went on to launch his own company. His style is a mix of Arabic and Latino cultures.



 

What is 'Next In Fashion' about?

The world's top emerging designers compete in 'Next in Fashion' for the chance to become the next big name in the sector.A panel of fashion professionals, including heads of brands and renowned designers, will judge the work of the twelve designers as they attempt challenges centered on a certain trend or design style.

The skilled competitors have worked for well-known companies and A-list stars, but they must compete head-to-head to determine who has the creativity and tenacity to take home the $200,000 prize. The winning designer will also be given the opportunity to launch their collection on RenttheRunway.com.

What is the buzz around 'Next In Fashion'?

The news of the show returning for another season comes as a surprise to fans after the fashion contest was previously canceled on Netflix. Now, the show will return, but with a supermodel twist, as Hadid replaces Chung in a hosting role alongside France for the next installment. Fans can't wait to see France and Hadid co-hosting the show and are pretty excited to know who will be the next winner.
