'Bridgerton' brings together a '90s rock favorite, Taylor Swift, Coldplay and more for Season 4
With its Cinderella‑style love story, 'Bridgerton' Season 4 centers on Benedict Bridgerton (Luke Thompson) and Sophie Baek (Yerin Ha). Created by Chris Van Dusen, the much-anticipated season will roll out in two installments: Part 1 premiering on January 29, followed by Part 2 on February 26. Adding to the excitement, Netflix recently announced that the orchestral covers for Season 4 will feature a lineup of beloved pop and rock anthems.
The covers included in 'Bridgerton' Season 4 will feature songs by Third Eye Blind, Taylor Swift, Paramore, Olivia Rodrigo, Coldplay, and Usher featuring Pitbull. Notably, Third Eye Blind is a San Francisco rock band best known in the 1990s for hits like 'Semi-Charmed Life' and 'Jumper.' Their 1999 song 'Never Let You Go' will be featured in Season 4, covered by the Vitamin String Quartet, likely appearing in Episode 1 of Part 1 titled 'The Waltz,' as per Parade. In addition, Episode 1 will also feature Coldplay's 'Life in Technicolor' and Usher's 'DJ Got Us Falling in Love Again'. Episodes 2, 3, and 4 will feature Swift's 'Enchanted', Paramore's 'All I Wanted', and Rodrigo's 'Bad Idea Right?' respectively.
Ahead of its highly anticipated release, Netflix recently released the first few minutes of 'Bridgerton' Season 4, Part 1. In the opening minutes, matriarch Lady Violet Bridgerton (Ruth Gemmell) reunites her family, though Benedict is noticeably absent. The scene shows Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan) and Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton) doting on their baby and the return of Francesca Bridgerton (Hannah Dodd), Eloise Bridgerton (Claudia Jessie), and Lord John Stirling (Victor Alli) from Scotland. Meanwhile, Hyacinth Bridgerton (Florence Hunt) shows a more grown-up look, and Lady Violet is dismayed that her second child, Benedict, isn't part of the family festivities, as per Tudum by Netflix.
Lady Violet, with the help of Footman John (Oli Higginson), rushes to Benedict's private apartment, demanding to see her son. Both John and Benedict's valet, Hatch (Esh Alladi) caution her against entering, hinting that something unusual has been going on in the room during his recent absences from society events, something more than mere "inebriated slumber." 'Bridgerton' Season 4 follows Benedict as his romance with series newcomer Sophie challenges his views on love, commitment, and society.
Talking about his character in the new season, Thompson explains, "Benedict is very free and very keen to hold onto his freedom. He can be a certain person at home, he can be a certain person at the demimonde, he can be a certain person in society. His weak spot is where love comes in, because you can't really be in love with someone if you're not fully there … to get to spend a full eight episodes digging into him and making a whole symphony about him, it's great." The first part of 'Bridgerton' drops on Netflix on January 29 at 3 am ET.
