'Westworld' Season 3 Episode 4: 'Mother of Exiles' this season's best, fans go gaga over 'Wicked Games' cover
Spoilers for 'Westworld' Season 3 Episode 4 'The Mother of Exiles'
'Westworld' has always had amazing covers of popular songs played out on classical instruments, but this episode's cover of The Weekend's 'Wicked Games' has garnered special enthusiasm from fans. In addition, the episode itself seems to be the most well-received of the season, and Twitter can't stop talking about it.
"You all are killing it this season. The music, dialogue, set, acting, story — it’s all amazing. Well done!" a fan on Twitter tells HBO. "Tonight’s episode of #Westworld actually made me very happy!" writes a viewer. "If you want something done right, do it yourself. #Westworld ,this episode was one of the BEST THINGS I'VE EVER SEEN!!" writes one enthused viewer, referencing the big twist that ALL the hosts smuggled out of the park are copies of Dolores' (Evan Rachel Wood) consciousness.
"This episode was absolutely phenomenal! the writing and performances were incredible!" says this fan. Another says, "Tonight's #Westworld was better than the first 3 episodes combined. At least 3 'Holy sh*t' moments, more if you split a few that happened within seconds of each other." High praise, indeed.
While a lot of the fandom reacted to Dolores' revelations with as many body double gifs and memes the internet has to offer, a lot of fans went wild for the four-string quartet cover of The Weekend's 'Wicked Games,' composed by Ramin Djwadi. One fan, in particular, had a lot to say about this episode's Masquerade Ball scene. "#Westworld is arguably the most beautiful #HBO series I've watched and this season is its most aesthetically pleasing one yet, but tonight's episode was on another level; the whole thing -start to finish- was visually stunning and that #MasqueradeBall scene was out of this world!"
They went on to add, "The magical #MasqueradeBall scene from tonight's #Westworlds3 wouldn't have been complete without this #RaminDjawadi masterpiece!"
For some fans, like this one, this episode essentially had it all. "evan rachel wood kicking luke hemsworth's ass while ramin djawadi's instrumental version of the weeknd's wicked games is playing on the background... i have PEACE in my heart. i have it now."
The next episode of 'Westworld' airs April 12, on HBO.
