Marvel has announced a new 'Werewolf by Night' mini-series, to be co-written by Black Eyed Peas star Taboo and Benjamin Jackendoff, with art by Scott Eagon. The series will feature a new werewolf, whom the Native American hero Red Wolf is tasked with tracking down.

Taboo and Benjamin Jackendoff talked with ComicBook.com about the series. “I've always had a love and appreciation for the character Red Wolf,” said Taboo. "I actually did a cosplay becoming Red Wolf." Taboo's Red Wolf cosplay was a part of the 'Marvel Becoming' webisodes from Marvel Entertainment - you can watch the video below.

Red Wolf is Marvel's first Native American superhero, and is someone whom Taboo has always loved, and appreciated. "I always said, ‘Hey, if Red Wolf ever comes up, I would love to be a part of writing or co-writing anything that deals with Red Wolf,’" he told ComicBook.com.

Taboo's co-writer, Benjamin Jackendoff is no stranger to collaborations with the Black Eyed Peas for Marvel comics. He previously co-wrote 'Masters of the Sun' with William, a comic about a hip-hop group from the Bronx dealing with a zombie outbreak that was an allegory for the crack epidemic of the 1980s. The comic was made in tandem with Marvel's Augmented Reality application, which saw the entire comic fully voiced by a number of hip-hop stars.

Speaking about working on 'Werewolf by Night,' Jackendoff said, "That's really what got us excited because they were like, ‘All right, cool. We can take the Werewolf by Night brand and stay true to the genre of it all, the creatures, the monsters, the big stuff, all that, but tie it into Native American storytelling, into a Native American background and palette, but still make it a fun adventure story about a kid.’"

The series is set to remain in the horror genre of previous 'Werewolf by Night' comics, but will also bring in a little levity, and adventure to the four-issue mini-series. The series will take off from the upcoming 'Outlawed' event, which sees the government crack down on teenage superheroes in the Marvel Universe, but the series will be mostly self-contained. You can read the official solicitation here:

"THE HOUR OF THE WOLF!
A new Werewolf by Night is prowling the Southwest, but all is not as it seems! A young man, a family curse, and an unholy experiment prove a dangerous combination for a small town in Arizona. All young Jake wants is to protect his people, but who will protect him from the monster within? Taboo of the BLACK EYED PEAS and Benjamin Jackendoff team up with Scot Eaton to tell an epic tale of righteous fury and incredible transformation in the Mighty Marvel Manner that is not to be missed!"

'Werewolf by Night #1' goes on sale in April.
