NEWARK, NEW JERSEY: A judge has denied Wendy Williams' ex-husband Kevin Hunter plea to resinstate his alimony payments from his ex-wife. The judge ordered that Wendy's financial guardian will not be required to resume writing the man's alimony checks, according to court documents obtained by The US Sun. Since the court determined that Kevin's motion was "not emergent"  he ordered to have it "dismissed without prejudice."

The judge also rejected Kevin's request for Wendy to cover his legal bills. However, Kevin's battle for Wendy's payments is still far from done. Although the court does not view the man's request for alimony payments as urgent, the judge indicated he can still go to mediation. "The parties are to participate in binding arbitration," the judge said. "The issues surrounding the severance payments, and the QDRO [Qualified Domestic Relations Order] are disputed and therefore need to be mediated", the US Sun reported.

Kevin's Petition

MEAWW previously reported that Hunter first claimed to a New Jersey court that his monthly payments promised in their divorce abruptly halted in February 2022. Kevin asked that Wendy's guardian be compelled "to make payments as contractually required under the MSA and Severance Agreement," according to the court decision.

A financial guardianship was established for Wendy, 58, earlier this year. In his filing, Kevin informed the court that the payments, which were outlined in their marital settlement agreement, are essential to maintaining his way of life.

"I have fallen behind on most of my bills. I currently live in a community that requires payments to the homeowners association and I'm behind on that bill. If the homeowners association fees are not paid foreclosure will soon follow," Kevin said in his plea to the court about the home he shares with his baby mama and their love child. "My car insurance hasn't been paid as a result of not receiving monthly severance payments. I'm behind on credit card payments because I have no money since the severance payments were suspended," Kevin continued in his filing. "My life has been greatly affected since the plaintiff stopped making payments under our settlement agreement."

Kevin asserted that he has no health insurance and claimd to have several other urgent financial issues. The father of two said he cannot have a hip surgery due to lack of insurance and endures pain everyday. "The fact that I am unable to sustain my life and pay my bills in order is extremely emergent to me. I cannot pay my bills and sustain my day-to-day living," he said, adding that Wendy's guardian never explained why the payment was stopped.

Financial constraints

The former TV host's lawyer responded to Kevin's demand for reimbursement by claiming that she hadn't received money from 'The Wendy Williams Show' since October 2021, one month into her indefinite break. Due to a number of health difficulties, Wendy was unable to finish the entire season of the show. "On October 15, of 2021 plaintiff was informed...that her contract was being suspended and that no compensation shall accrue or be payable to plaintiff for the duration of plaintiff's disability and incapacity," Wendy's attorney wrote.

The attorney further referred to the divorce Settlement Agreement that she and Kevin signed in January 2020. Wendy's attorney stated that her client "presently has no other television show being aired and paying her any income, let alone an equivalent income," indicating that Wendy has not earned payment from the show's production. The first episode of Wendy's fall 2021 season aired in September; a few days later, Wendy was admitted to the hospital for a psychiatric assessment. The 'Wendy Williams Show' reportedly paid Wendy a whopping $10 million a year.
