Joey King (who plays the gruesome villain in 'The Act'), embraces the role of her own best friend's killer in 'The Lie' — a new feature-length installment of Amazon Studios and Blumhouse Television's upcoming anthology special, 'Welcome to Blumhouse'. As a part of eight individual horror movies, 'The Lie' weaves an intricate web of its titular element. Here's all you need to know about it!

Release date

As of it's latest announcements to the press, 'The Lie' will premiere along with another installment of the same special 'BlackBox' on October 6, only on Amazon Prime Video.

Plot

According to the official synopsis given by Amazon, "When their teenaged daughter confesses to impulsively killing her best friend, two desperate parents attempt to cover up the horrific crime, leading them into a complicated web of lies and deception." With parents and their protective motives revolving crime thrillers being more of a Lifetime network thing, it will be interesting how Amazon presents their own rendition of the genre. 

Cast

'The Lie' stars Mireille Enos ('The Killing'), Peter Sarsgaard ('An Education') and Joey King who was more recently seen in her newly released sequel of the Netflix rom-com original, 'The Kissing Booth 2'. King is no stranger to thrillers, having played the role of the real-life Gypsy Rose, the girl who manipulated her boyfriend into killing her own mom, on Hulu's 'The Act'.

Creators

Written and directed by Veena Sud, 'The Lie' has been produced by Alix Madigan-Yorkin, Christopher Tricarico, and Jason Blum, whose other very popular anthology venture includes Hulu's 'Into the Dark', a monthly horror with individual films pegged on a festival signifying the month. Howard Green, Kim Hodgert, Jeanette Volturno, Couper Samuelson and Aaron Barnett are the executive producers.
