'We Hunt Together' Episode 4: How will Lola connect Freddy and Baba to their third victim?
Spoilers for 'We Hunt Together' Episode 4
Four full weeks of nail-biting anticipation later, we finally know the method to Freddy's (Hermione Corfield) madness, or should we call her Lily Jenkins now? The young femme fatale spent five years in juvenile detention for pushing her school's headmaster down the stairs, after learning at a very young age of his contribution in her best friend, the real Freddy's suicide.
Episode 4 also reveals how she took up the name Freddy and has now gone back to her hometown, probably to exact revenge through the job she had started but couldn't finish. But while we can't quite be certain about Freddy/Lily's agenda, knowing her pathological lying and manipulative tendencies, the reason to worry about her springs somewhere in the middle of the episode, when DS Lola Franks (Eve Myles) finds the one piece of evidence that could link her to the murders for sure.
As Freddy tags Baba (Dipo Ola) along on her murderous rampage, this time their victim being her former headmaster, she seems to leave her present behind, relatively relieved that the police have ruled her victims' death as a murder-suicide.
Meanwhile, trying to chase any leads that come their way, a very desperate Lola and DI Jackson Mendy (Babou Ceesay) look for the possible stick Matt Bower had allegedly used to "write" his suicide note on the forest ground, before "hanging" himself on the tree. After Jackson's initial suspicions surrounding Freddy, it is Lola now trying to connect the dots in any way possible, hence the search for a stick, expectedly full of DNA of the parties present at the crime scene.
If nothing, at least the two detectives could rest easy knowing the stick only had Matt's DNA, but luck favors them in mysterious ways. While looking for the stick, Lola finds a beer glass on the forest floor. When she notices the embossed name of the establishment the glass belongs to, the two end up at a local pub just outside the forest area, and as soon as they flash their badges and purpose of visit, the barwoman promptly opens up to them.
The detectives are then informed about Darren — the man Freddy and Baba had taken hostage before Baba freed him and he ran off to his imminent death by getting hit by a truck. The accident was fishy enough to suggest Freddy has a third accomplice working for her, but right now, it's the glass full of DNA that piques their curiosity.
It's the same glass Darren was carrying when he had wandered off to Freddy and Baba's crime scene where the two of them were trying to pulley up Matt on the tree to indicate death by suicide. Baba had chased Darren before knocking him out, but with the way the glass was buried under the dried leaves, it seemed strategically hidden from cops.
Lola most likely will obtain the letters Freddy had written to the original Freddy's mother from juvie, thereby gaining access to her fingerprints. And if those match the array of prints on the glass, it's pretty much game over. 'We Hunt Together' airs on Sundays at 10 pm on Showtime.
