'Watchmen' Episode 5: Veidt and Trieu are at heart of a conspiracy involving clones, Nostalgia and possible resurrection

Clones seem to keep popping up all over the show. So far we've seen everything from clone people to clone dogs and there have also been hints that the technology may be adapted to recreate a human being, complete with their memories.

Five episodes into 'Watchmen' Season 1, all the pieces are slowly falling into place. There's a conspiracy at work in Tulsa, Oklahoma and it involves cops, criminals, scientists, and even the President of the United States.

Episode 5 confirmed that Adrian Veidt / Ozymandias (Jeremy Irons) is on some sort of a prison world with nothing but clones to give him company. Veidt has basically enslaved the clones, turning them into his servants and using them for his experiments with no regard for their lives, which is what you'd expect from a man who killed scores of people for the sake of world peace.

Clones seem to keep popping up all over the show. So far we've seen everything from clone people to clone dogs and there have also been hints that the technology may be adapted to recreate a human being, complete with their memories.

In Episode 5, we found out that there's now a booming business in creating clones of pets and we also learned of the existence of the drug called Nostalgia. Named for the cosmetics brand that Veidt launched in the comics, Nostalgia is a pill that stores memories and allows its users to relive them, at the risk of going insane.

Hong Chau as Lady Trieu in Watchmen (HBO)

Lady Trieu (Hong Chau) had revealed earlier in the season that she has her own plans for Tulsa and she's the biggest link between Nostalgia and the clones. Her company, which she bought from Veidt, was responsible for the creation of Nostalgia and for the perfection of human cloning. Put the two pieces together and you've got everything you need to resurrect the dead.

Meanwhile, Looking Glass / Wade Tillman (Tim Blake Nelson) has discovered that Senator Joe Keane (James Wolk) is secretly manipulating the 7th Kavalry for his own ends. While Keane claims to not be responsible for the White Night, it's a little hard to believe that he didn't have a part to play in that horrific event, especially since it helped boost his plans for Tulsa.

Keane also revealed that Chief Judd Crawford (Don Johnson) was working with him from the very beginning and that they're both just two pieces in a much larger game. Right now, we don't know what that game might be, but all the leads seem to end at Trieu and Veidt and whatever this conspiracy might be, they're the ones responsible.

'Watchmen' Episode 6 'This Extraordinary Being' will air on HBO on November 24.
