'Was that necessary on live TV?': Taylor Swift dubbed 'bad role model' as she chugs beer at Super Bowl LVIII Halftime

Taylor Swift gave up alcohol before her Eras Tour

LAS VEGAS, NEVADA: Taylor Swift was seen having a great time at Super Bowl LVIII, enthusiastically cheering on her boyfriend Travis Kelce and his team the Kansas City Chiefs, who went on to win the game. The singer was also caught on the Jumbotron chugging beer, with the camera staying on her until she finished it. After completing the act, Taylor flashed a triumphant look and slammed the cup down.

While her actions provided Super Bowl fans with a memorable moment, not everyone was impressed. Some fans booed her, criticizing her for not being a good role model. Swifties, in particular, were left disappointed, finding Taylor's beer-chugging moment less than iconic.

One slammed the singer, "Oh ya what a real role model, How to Chug beer on live TV." Another called her out, "Nice - NFL highlights Taylor getting wasted and Travis with anger management issues."

Another questioned Taylor, "Was that necessary On live TV ? Where are kids watching the Super Bowl game?" "Very bad influence. My family is watching," one trolled Taylor. 

A fan called Taylor's beer-chugging to be a "bad take." Another explained, "That's exactly what I was thinking . I know people can live how they want..but I think that given she knows that young children look up to her, she could be a little more aware of little ones looking in,especially since more people are tuning into watch the NFL."

Does Taylor Swift have a drinking problem?

Taylor may not have a drinking problem, but she doesn't appear to shy away from a glass or two. She is frequently seen holding a glass of wine or champagne at events. Additionally, the singer often references drinking as a remedy for her problems in many of her songs.

In 'Reputation,' she mentions whiskey, champagne, and even beer in the lyrics, "Take my own life just to save yours. Drink it all down just to throw it up." Taylor's favorite drink is "diet coke and vodka", as per Refinery29.

In preparation for her Eras Tour, Taylor took steps to ensure her physical well-being by abstaining from alcohol. Her training regimen involved staying in peak physical condition and avoiding habits that could potentially harm her vocal cords.

"Every day I would run on the treadmill, singing the entire set list out loud. Fast for fast songs, and a jog or a fast walk for slow songs," she told TIME Magazine. 

Her personalized training program leading up to the tour incorporated 'strength, conditioning, and weights.' Taylor dedicated three months to training, involving dance, and singing practice, and identifying her strengths. She emphasized, 'Doing that show with a hangover. I don’t want to know that world.' Consequently, Taylor made the decision to give up drinking before embarking on the tour.
