‘Vikings’ Season 6 Episode 6 preview: Election, mayhem, and massacre on the cards

On the day of the election, while the Viking chiefs are preparing to elect the next king of Norway, a rebellion starts brewing. And as the trailer shows, the strategic political move could easily turn into an anarchic situation and quash Olaf’s plans.

Things are moving in all directions in the Viking land as we speak. While on one side the big voting for the next king is underway, there is more to it, or at least will be, than what we can see. King Harald is obviously not very happy with this strategy that Olaf pushed forth. When he was Olaf’s prisoner for a while, he reached out to Bjorn for help. Bjorn, like the responsible, well-meaning ally, put himself and his army in real danger to save Harald. But that doesn’t mean that he is ready to forgo his dream of becoming the King of all of Norway.

However, in the previous week (episode 5) we had seen Harald casting a vote in favor of Bjorn. Now, that was a tad surprising and completely unexpected. In fact, even last week we had a theory that perhaps the election is not going to go as planned. Now, there’s an angle, some of you might have missed and that is Ketil’s odd behavior.

According to us, Ketil Flatnose is not the man who can be trusted. His history in Iceland with Floki and the new community is evidence enough to say that he can turn back on his own people without much ado. And we also know how remarkably he lied to Bjorn about Floki’s disappearance and what went down in Iceland. So, when he joined Bjorn’s army to save Harald, we had doubts about his intentions. Now, on the day of the election, we see him and Harald exchanging indicative glances which could mean many things. One of which could also be to put Bjorn in danger.

As the preview of episode 6 hints, Harald might have voted for Bjorn but it is most likely a trap.

Elsewhere, banished Vikings warrior, Whitehair is all set to come back and attack Lagertha and the villagers in her farmstead. The retired shield maiden will not be retired anymore and enter the battlefield all over again. With help from Gulhild and her army of shield maidens, Lagertha and her people will avenge little Hali’s death. In all, there’s massacre on the cards on all fronts in the upcoming week of Vikings. How it all plays out is something we need to look forward to.

‘Vikings’ Season 6 airs every Wednesday 10pm only on History Channel.
