'Venom': Tom Hardy shares 'awkward' footage of epic fight scene without CGI and it looks like they're dancing

Without the CGI effects, the fight scene from 'Venom' looks more like an elaborate dance and not in a good way

At this point, Hollywood would be dead without CGI. From 'Spider-Man: Far From Home' to 'Avengers: Endgame', some of the biggest movies of recent times, especially in the high-action superhero genre, have shown the wonders that are possible with CGI but what happens when you take out the effects and leave the raw footage?

Well, Tom Hardy has shared a video that illustrates just that. The actor shared a BTS video of the battle between Venom (Hardy) and Riot (Riz Ahmed) on his Instagram and it is awkward as hell.

"Not remotely awkward BTS snippet recorded by Kelly Marcel Venom 1 physical theatre 101," Hardy captioned the video. He continued the description of the video in the comments writing "Footloose" and "This is how to face pull".

Without the CGI effects, the fight looks more like an elaborate dance and not in a good way. That's pretty ironic because that fight was one of the highlights of the movie and the video illustrates just how important the VFX work is to make the movie moments we all love so very much.

The use of CGI in Hollywood has become so pervasive that entire sets and props are often created digitally. Of course, there are those times when it crosses into the realm of weirdness, like with the movie 'Cats', which infamously employed someone to edit out all the buttholes of the actors involved and somehow still ended up delivering an unwatchable mess.

Back to 'Venom', the franchise's next installment 'Venom 2' is currently set to arrive in October and as of the writing of this article, it does appear the movie might make the release date, provided the coronavirus shutdown ends by then. Featuring Woody Harrelson's Cletus Kassidy/Carnage as the main villain, the film is expected to be a treat for fans of the character who have waited a long time to see the murderous symbiote brought to life on the big screen.

Do you think CGI is essential to modern-day movie-making? Or has it become overused to the point of saturation? Let us know in the comments.

'Venom 2' is set to arrive in theaters on October 2.
