Comic-Con 2020: Did Ingrid kill herself or was she murdered? All the 'Upload' questions we want answers for

Amazon's 'Upload' Season 1 established its novel and unique idea at the very beginning itself. Nathan (Robbie Amell) meets with a car accident and his girlfriend Ingrid (Allegra Edwards) "uploads" his consciousness into a digital afterlife so that he can keep living. After being uploaded to Horizon's Lakeview Hotel, Nathan meets Nora who plays the role of his "Angel", a customer service rep who caters to all his needs. The two strike up a close bond and fall in love through the course of the season.

However, things take a darker turn towards the end of Season 1, as they realize that Nathan has some strange memories of his earlier life and that his death might not have been an accident. Both of them try to solve the mystery and restore his memories while falling more for each other along the way. In the final few minutes of the last episode of Season 1, when Nathan is not able to respond to Nora's love confession, she leaves town tearfully and Ingrid turns up in the afterlife.

There are many questions that remain unresolved, and this year's Comic-Con 2020 'Upload' panel might be able to give us a few answers.

Who killed Nathan Brown?

The series began with Nathan's death in a car crash. On the verge of death, Ingrid uploads him into a digital afterlife under her data plan. Later, it was revealed that Nathan didn't really need to be uploaded as he could have recovered. There was a darker conspiracy at play here that involved Ingrid's father, Oliver. When Nathan and Ingrid broke up, she told her father that the settings in Nathan's car had been changed to protect the driver. Nora learns that there were a lot of people involved in Nathan's death, as well as the erasure of his memories. Hopefully, Season 2 will give us some clue on the real murderer.

How did Ingrid reach the afterlife?

Just when Nathan runs out of his 2GB data and is left frozen, Ingrid comes and gives him 1 GB at the end of Season 1. It is understood that Ingrid is dead too because you have to die to be uploaded. Did she kill herself or were there more sinister forces at play?

Will Nora realize Nathan's love for her?

An emotional Nora calls Nathan and tells her that she loves him. She says that she knows he really isn't a bad person despite whatever he might have done earlier. She confesses that she loves him and that they will uncover the real conspiracy behind his murder. Nathan can't talk because of low memory as he has only 2gig, which means that he can only get a top-up a month later. He does not respond to Nora's love admission. He cries and a broken-hearted Nora leaves the city, thinking he ignored her. Hopefully, in Season 2, the two get the happy ending that they deserve.

Who tried to kill Nora?

Someone tampered with Horizon's database, creating a glitch that turns uploads into pixelated versions. This might have a connection with Nathan's death, as the same person tries to kill Nora too.

The 'Upload' panel discussion will be held on Thursday, July 23, at 2 pm EST. During this discussion, creator, executive producer and director Greg Daniels and stars Robbie Amell,  Andy Allo, Kevin Bigley, Allegra Edwards and Zainab Johnson will discuss the show, and hints on what to expect in the panel will be moderated by Engadget's Cherlynn Low.
