The world is in a state of lockdown and the only interactions we can have are mostly virtual and through the internet. In Greg Daniels's latest show, 'Upload', we see a future where the virtual world is not just a healthy option but a powerful source to fulfill all our needs.

Jumping a couple of years into the future, humanity has found a way to defeat death. It hurts to lose a loved one because we know we will never see them again. We can hope that they're peaceful wherever they are.

Leaning further into this idea, 'Upload' shows what happens when the wealthy can upload their loved ones into a virtual world, pay for their services, meet them and even have sex with them. Their mortal remains are frozen till there's a hope of resurrection.

The Amazon series follows the story of Nathan Brown (Robbie Amell), who dies in a sudden car accident. His girlfriend uploads him into a luxury afterlife called Lakeview.

Nora Anthony (Andy Allo) is his "angel" and caters to his requests. She is not allowed to fall in love, and you know by now how well that works with any story. Nora has to juggle her personal life as well as work for Nathan.

It seems like an exotic life for Nathan, who even has a dog as a therapist to check on him. He meets different people, who have all had traumatic deaths and wish for a peaceful afterlife.

There is also a thriller element, mingled with the comedy. In an interview, Allo said, "Yeah, I think you get a lot of different elements. What I love about this world Greg [Daniels] created is that it doesn't hit you over the head. There's the sci-fi aspect of it, but that's just the world you have to buy into."

"And then the murder mystery is peppered throughout, but you get distracted with some other aspects of the show, the romantic comedy aspects. I like that it's not Upload for dummies. It's like, here's the world, you just have to jump in. It doesn't push too much of the murder mystery."

'Upload' will begin streaming on Amazon Prime on May 1.
