'Umbrella': H&D deliver bittersweet goodbye in first and final comeback, fans thank K-pop duo's 'beautiful music'

South Korean duo H&D is following up a successful debut with a special album comeback, their final album together before they re-debut as part of a new group from their label Pocketdol Studio.

H&D is comprised of former X1 members Lee Hangyul & Nam Dohyon. Prior to debuting as a duo, both members participated in a variety of shows, with Hangyul initially debuting as a member of Yama and Hotchicks Entertainment's ballad group IM and competing on the show 'The Unit', and Dohyun competing on the show 'Under Nineteen'. The duo was eventually selected to represent MBK Entertainment in the South Korean boy group survival reality show from Mnet, 'Produce X 101'. Both Hangyul and Dohyon made the cut and debuted with X1, promoting with them until the group's disbandment in January 2020 following the controversy surrounding vote manipulation at Mnet's survival shows. Despite the stumble, H&D made their return in February at a fan meeting titled 'Happy Day'.

In April, H&D returned once again, this time with their debut EP 'Soulmate' and its two title tracks, 'Soul' and 'Goodnight'. And they now deliver their final 'Goodbye' before the official disbandment of the H&D unit. Despite the bittersweetness of this release, fans have nothing but positivity to send H&D's way, including congratulating them and commending their performance. "Congratulations on your comeback H&D," tweeted one fan, "I'M SO PROUD OF H&D, I LOVE THEM WITH ALL MY HEART, MIND AND SOUL.... BESTEST DUO EVER!!!" stated another. And one fan shared, "When Dohyon said this song will bring Hangyul’s vocals to spotlight he really meant it and when Hangyul said Dohyon is this young but he has this kind of thoughts he also really meant it in conclusions H&D bestest duo."

The duo has also earned high praise for their vocals as well as the song itself. One tweet read, "H&D BEST BOYS THANK YOU FOR SUCH BEAUTIFUL MUSIC." Another stated, "This type of music, I love it!!! Easy listening & chill. !! You two did a good job." And one fan shared, "This song so great. You both did so well guys! Thank you."

As their first and last comeback as a duo, this song is equal parts uplifting and sad. The breezy sound paired with H&D's soft vocals makes for a perfect albeit temporary goodbye.
